Our guide, Ben, was everything you could hope for in a guide—knowledgeable, patient, professional, and genuinely passionate about making sure everyone had an amazing experience. Whether you were experienced or completely new to fly fishing, Ben took the time to teach, encourage, and celebrate every catch.
The scenery was breathtaking, the river was pristine, and we caught some beautiful trout that made the day even more memorable. Beyond the fishing, Ben’s personality made the trip. He was fun to spend the day with and made us feel like we were fishing with an old friend rather than just a guide.
JD High Country runs a first-class operation, and the attention to detail—from the equipment to the overall experience—was exceptional. This wasn’t just a fishing trip; it was the highlight of our vacation.

“I had purchased several patches to repair a parka that my dog team had ripped. One of the patches started to lift after a couple of days. I didn't report it, I figured oh well it didn't work. I was on the mailing list and an email came that wanted their customers to recommend them to friends. I replied back to the email that I didn't think I could recommend based on price and the patch lifting shortly after applying. I was pleasantly surprised that I got a response to find out exactly what was going on. They gave a hint of hitting the spot with a blow dryer but they would send me out a replacement. A couple weeks later the replacement arrived. I felt they really wanted to make things right when corresponding with them. I would buy again.”
“Great experience here. Owner was very sweet and helpful with fitting and trying on chinks. They do custom chinks and incredible saddles. They also have misc tack, bits, supplies, and used saddles.”
“A small shop selling souvenirs. There are many animal specimens in it, just like a museum. However, there are many animal furs in it. I don’t know if they are real. The price is quite cheap. I hope the animals died naturally.”
