Birmingham Yoga has completely changed my life. I am the strongest I have ever been and I can stay in the moment better than ever before. I also have eosinophilic asthma and Ashtanga yoga has helped my breathing more than anything else I’ve tried. Heather is an amazing teacher. She meets you exactly where you are and she has made me so much better. I LOVE Birmingham Yoga and Heather!!!

I was a complete beginner when I started attending classes at Birmingham Yoga ten years ago and have built up so much strength, endurance, and flexibility because of my yoga practice. The instructors at Birmingham Yoga are fantastic. They are knowledgeable about yoga and the human body and provide a customized practice to all of their students. The environment at the studio is extremely welcoming and inclusive. No matter your gender, your age, or your shape or size, you will feel like you belong. Even uncoordinated runners with tight hammies will find a home here!

I've done various led yoga classes on and off for years. My experience at this studio has changed my approach to yoga completely. It's the first time I've connected breathing and yoga in a meaningful way. Mysore is just a different approach and one that fits me perfectly. The staff and community are fantastic and I could go on and on about how this is one, if not the most positive additions to my life I have made this past year.

I love this yoga studio. I have practiced here for almost a year. It’s a great environment and you truly feel part of a “community.” I would also say it’s a male friendly yoga studio- I feel very comfortable and the Mysore approach allows me to proceed at my own pace.

I’m a beginner again after not practicing for several years and was made to feel totally welcome and included. Not just by the staff but by the other participants. If you’re thinking of trying yoga for the first time or starting over again, I highly recommend Birmingham Yoga.

I’ve taken two ashtanga beginner courses at Birmingham Yoga. I wanted to make sure my form was as good as possible for where I am in my practice. I’ve learned a tremendous amount not only about an ashtanga practice but also about the way my body works when stretching and where my problem areas are and then tying in my breathing with my body movement, which I’ve not enjoyed success breathing with each exercise. For years I think I just held my breath during different positions and that never felt good. For the most part, I attend Heather‘s classes, and I find she can work with individuals on multiple levels and almost has a sixth sense about where you might be having issues. She quickly moves about the classroom to ensure she can help get you into the correct position, and I have not had an injury of any sort since I began working with her. I highly recommend Birmingham Yoga.

I had been practicing and teaching yoga for 14 years before I found Birmingham Yoga when I moved to town. I was looking to deepen my practice and found that next level there. The teachers are warm, caring and patient. They allow students to create their own schedule and make the practice fit their lifestyle. They encourage and hold space for struggles and create the kind of space where you inevitably grow. This reflects into the students and we all end up upholding each other and forming friendships that makes yoga last beyond the mat. If you want a practice whose effects extend past your hour(ish) to make your whole life better, find your way to Birmingham Yoga.

Best yoga studio in town. They welcome all kinds of people, this is not a suburban mom exercise class. The instructors take time with participants with injuries. Beautiful, calming space.

I've been practicing at BY since 2018. Heather and the staff have created a warm, affirming, and inclusive space throughout every class, workshop, and Teacher Training I've attended. I feel like a yoga studio is designed to ultimately foster encouragement, inquiry, and growth (on and off the mat) and BY shines in every expectation there. BY is a bright light and a strong example of why the Birmingham yogi community is thriving. Check it out!

Birmingham Yoga is one of the few places I’ve ever felt completely accepted. I even learned to accept myself here. It’s been my on again off again home since 2012 and will always be in my heart.
