Good location but several problems need fixing: slow service, inconsistent quality, and unclear pricing. If management improves training and updates the menu/pricing, this could be a solid option. I’d consider returning when those changes are made.

Hertz online customer service and store service is poor. Tried to redeem rewards points in the store and manager couldn't assist. Called customer service and spoke with an AI robot for 10 minutes until I got to a person. When the agent got on the phone, the agent didn't speak English. Tried to redeem points online and on the phone and couldn't do it. Had to pay full price for my reservation, even though I had credits.

Please Please Please!!! Make sure this company is really who you want to rent from. I made a reservation and was put in a Nissan Altima. It was good at first until my bf tried to get comfortable. Ultimately it was too small and we tried to get another vehicle. I was told that lil car was the upgrade. However, I wanted to get a refund. The manager on site told me funds would be released at midnight and here I am days later still haven’t received my refund. Customer Service won’t even answer the phone. My bank told me they don’t even see where a refund was issued!!! But they took my freaking money!! Now I’m stranded and don’t even have those funds I was needed to get gas and other things. This is the WORST RENTAL place when wanting your refund. My bank has been trying to get my refund for me and they’re also having a hard time. Usually my bank does refund same day! I’m pissed.

Arrived on time, did not have a car for me. Then a car showed up , it was the Malibu the car I reserved and then i was told it was going back to the airport. Then they cleaned a Nissan Altima for over an hour. When I got into my car 1.5 hour late it was filled with cigarettes smoke. That’s why they took so long to clean it. It was extreme, it reaked! My head started to pound and my eyes watered. I’m not used to sitting in a space with that smell. I walked back into the building and asked for another car, they said that’s it, I could sit and wait for Somme to return a car, no guarantee. They wouldn’t check other locations. I called other locations they said no. I went to this location to save fee from the airport! Big mistake! There were 7 people waiting for cars in the lobby! Awful experience and the staff could care less!

I really wished I would have read the reviews first but lesson learned. I called the day before my reservation date 8/4/25 and spoke to Tyra regarding my reservation doing my due diligence. I wanted to ensure my vehicle would be available. Tyra answered and said they could not guarantee my specifc vehicle. I needed a Ram 1500 to move my son into college. She was unapologetic, with an attitude because I was wasting her time not understanding why they couldn't confirm if they would have the vehicle or not. I shouldn't expect the same courtesy from Hertz that I get from Enterprise & Budget I only rented with Hertz because of the discount Priceline offered. I asked to speak to a supervisor and Tyra actually said I could not. I asked her why I could not speak to a supervisor and she said she was in a meeting and could not be bothered. I asked for the supervisors name she said it was Tori. I told her I would call back. I called back and spoke to Tori (sounded like Tyra) but she confirmed she was the manager. She said she could not confirm the vehicle even though my reservation was made in advance. She apologized for the inconvenience but told me she would call me by 11a tomorrow if they did not have the vehicle.
8/5/25 I am on time to pick up the vehicle and they do not have it! Once again the manager is in a meeting and cannot be bothered to speak to me. It is after 5p. Customer service goes a long way. I will never book with this location again. If she would have told me at 11a they could not honor the reservation apparently somehing they knew the week before, I would have had time to make other arrangements.

I had a reservation and had told them I would be there at 8:30, I showed up and they didn’t have a car for me and said it would be 45min- hour. They told me it was my problem because they opened at 8am. I said that’s not my problem, that’s your problem. The worst customer service.

DON'T USE THIS LOCATION!!
If I could leave negative stars, I would. Everything about this location was a disaster. I extended a day rental of a Toyota Corolla to a weekly rate. I was charged $1800! After calling in, local Representatives said they couldn't help at all. Had to wait on hold for 45 minutes with the 800 number. And they still could not help me. I was told to call back after the reservation had ended. So I have that call to look forward to now that my reservation has ended. (And the 45 minutes to devote to another call.) Then when I returned the car, I was told the inside of thebcar was covered in dog hair. No pets were in the vehicle. I had the vehicle for a week and what was in there was transfer from my clothing. They said I had to go vacuum the car out or they would charge me $500. I ran around town (in a very sketchy neighborhood) looking for a gas station that had a vacuum. After thoroughly vacuuming the car out, I was still told that the car was unusable.(Even though the vehicle was already sticky from a mess on several surfaces previous to when I rented it). I asked her to show me where more dog hair was. There was a few hairs on the molding below the back seat. I wiped it off with my hand and resolved the issue. She said that they still had to do a deep clean on the vehicle and were still charging me $50. I was obviously getting very upset. Yes, I was angry, but I was not yelling or being aggressive in any manner. Several of the other customers waiting inside actually surrounded me as if I were going to attack someone or something. It is so absolutely ridiculous! I seriously cannot put into words how irate and offended I am. I have rented through Hertz for years as well as many other car rental companies. NEVER in my life have I had a reservation or customer service this absolutely pathetic. I could go on but won't. Way to go Birmingham Hertz, you have lost a loyal customer.
