“We called late on a Sunday afternoon after we discovered a very large infection on our cats neck. He is mostly an outdoor cat. The staff explained everything. They drained the pocket of infection gave him an antibiotic shot and pain medicine there and some to take with us. It was 45 miles round trip. It has been one week ago today and our cat is well. Thank you so much.”
“I rescued a 5 month old kitten who was in really bad shape! After my regular vet wouldn’t pick up the phone for me to have him seen, I asked around and had several people recommend Alford Ave! I decided to give them a try as I didn’t have much time to waste and I was not disappointed! The love and genuine support of my little guy was so appreciated in a time that has felt very overwhelming and uncertain. Dr. Burke is such a kind human. She took the time to explain everything to me thoroughly and went above and beyond for my kitty before/during/after his surgery! I’m planning on moving my other two cats to Alford as well because their love and care for their clients is very clear! Also a plus that they have several cats hanging out in the lobby!”
“Dr. Soto was great! She explained my cat’s condition to us thoroughly and made sure we understood our options for a course of action. You can also tell she really cares about the pets she’s seeing. We went in the day before Thanksgiving and she helped is resolve my cat’s issues as quickly as possible. She even messaged us on Thanksgiving to make sure kitty was okay!”

“I love the staff. The doctor is outstanding. I took my dog to the ER in Hoover because it was a Sunday and I had just got in from out of town. The dog sitter told me that she was not eating anything just drinking water. So I watched her for some hours then me and my sister took her to the ER in Hoover because my Vet office was not open and she was not looking good. They almost killed my dog and charged me a mint. I didn't trust what the doctor told me. When Monday came I took her to my vet. When he saw her and told him what was going on with her he knew what was wrong. He told me that it may be to late to save her. He did blood work and sent it off stat. He told me to leave her there I was heart broken me and my sister. He called me back and they had to do emergency surgery to save her. When she came out of heat and her wound closed it was infection in it. He said if I had waited another day she would not have made it. It was Pyometra. When I told him that she was not eating only drinking water, and everyone knows my girl dog is very greed. He asked had she just came out of heat and I said yes he knew what was wrong. This was the same things I told the ER doctor but he didn't know this, instead they told me to take her home it was something else and if she was not doing better in a couple of days to bring her back. If I had taken their advice my dog would be dead now. So yes, I love my Vet Doctor and I recommend him to everyone I know with a pet. He is just outstanding beyond words. I will never take my pets to the ER in Hove again.”
“Was able to get appt within a few hours of calling which was a blessing. Dr.'s are very friendly and went over diagnosis very thoroughly. When I had a question the next day about a reaction to some meds the dr called back within 1 hour. Cant ask for more!”

“My pups seem to think the best time to fall ill is on the weekend. And of course it’s major, so no putting it off until Monday. I’m so thankful, albeit poorer, for all the wonderful staff at VSB. As traumatic as these incidents are it’s comforting to know your baby is getting the absolute best care. To have 24 hour attentiveness given by such a knowledgeable and compassionate staff helps reassure yourself, that other than praying, you’re doing everything you can to provide your pet with a fighting chance to have a positive outcome. They call you with updates. They don’t get snarky when you call with questions. Truly a kind and caring facility for the pet and its human(s). Phoebe is home and recovering. I am grateful for VSB . Phoebe says the jury is still out.. All she knows is that as nice as they seemed, they kept her in a cage and stuck her with needles. We won’t even talk about shaving the legs! She’s embarrassed.”

“Dr. Milledge and staff took wonderful care of my daughter's beagle who has degenerative discs in her neck. It causes the dog a lot of pain and my daughter a lot of sadness. Dr. Milledge was so kind, knowledgeable, and took so much time talking to my daughter and answering all her questions. We left with a good plan to keep her dog comfortable and to allow the neck to heal enough to be able to get back to some sort of normalcy. Pricing was very affordable compared to other places I've been to. Would highly recommend!”

I love how she sits down in the floor with them because they are always anxious. The vet techs are great and very knowledgeable.
