The oldest Continuous operational post office in AL!! It is 2nd in the whole U.S. Bananas!! I have a thing for post offices especially since I have been writing since 2010!
They do not deliver mail here! You have to pick up your mail! You have to walk or drive! I am losing it at every bit of information the lady in the post office gave me.(Sorry I didn’t get her name). I was like I need to move here. To be able to walk to get my mail everyday! I am in LOVE!
They seem to only be open from 8am-10am. So what we noticed is people getting their mail in bulk. Just an observation. We didn’t ask people’s schedule.
We got there with really only 20 minutes to spare. I think I could have hung out and talked for hours though!
Tavern/Inn is where the post office originally started before it was moved into this building.
I would love to go back and do a tour.
Currently at this time they do not have any post cards. I guess you could mail yourself a letter from there though.
There is a little parking lot at the end of High Street and North Street near Lyla’s. You will definitely want to park and walk around.”
“I have been using this post office since moving to Huntsville in 2019. This is by far the best USPS in world, yes world. Never busy and never an attitude. I even rented my PO Box when I went overseas for 3.5 years and they were always welcoming when I returned. They may not have the best hours for all those who work off base but if you work on base you need make this your go too USPS. I make it a point to drive on base after teleworking to handle my mail business because of the friendliness and knowledge of the staff.”
“This is the best post office in Huntsville. The workers there take care of you, yes sometimes you have to wait a little bit but the service is worth it 100 percent. The carriers are stellar as well. Two thumbs up for consistency, communication, and friendliness of the staff”
“There are so many bad reviews about this place. I dealt with the bald guy with the fire beard, and he was as pleasant as could be. I think the problems people have with this place come from within.”
