The Alaska Art Alliance is a hidden gem in downtown Anchorage, offering a unique selection of hand-crafted native art created by master carvers from around the state. The gallery showcases Alaska's rich cultural history, providing visitors with a fantastic experience. The staff, including Jason and his crew, are known for their kindness and willingness to guide customers through the diverse collection, explaining the origins and artists behind each piece. The gallery has a bit of a "hole-in-the-wall" vibe, but customers are encouraged not to be intimidated. The building is divided, with a conventional storefront at the front and a back room where visitors can witness the artists at work and purchase their creations directly. The ivory carvings may be a bit pricey, but customers appreciate the value of these art pieces, which are carved on-site or made by local artists. While the musty odor from the carving process may be noticeable to some, it adds to the authentic atmosphere of the gallery. Visitors have described the Alaska Art Alliance as a hidden treasure, with the owner being an exceptional person and the carvers' hard work being a highlight of their visit.

We stopped in here to look at the local art and carvings. We talked with one of the artists and he gave us a tour of the back room where they all work and shared information about the place. It was very interesting to learn about and everyone was very friendly!
