“Captain Joe's Gas Station was my Go-To place for just about everything I needed during my visit to Valdez. Not like Valdez is a big town, but Joe's is located in the center of it all. And, I believe it's the only gas station in Valdez. Joe's is conveniently open 24 hours and I stopped here each morning at 7am to grab a breakfast sandwich and hot chocolate. They have a terrific homemade popcorn machine that was perfect for a midday snack. Plus, I purchased all my little Valdez knickknack souvenirs like magnets, keychains and postcards inside. They offer public showers, restrooms and laundry machines for all the outdoor adventurers and campers. Joe's is situated right next door to a Safeway grocery market. So, if by chance I couldn't find anything I was looking for here, I just walked around the bend to Safeway. When gas prices were soaring throughout the USA for this past summer of 2022, Joe's was surprisingly reasonably priced at $4.50 a gallon.
