“Q: Why don't butchers use dictionaries?
A: They don't want to mince their words!
A carniceria is a Spanish term for a butcher shop, a specialized meat market that often provides fresh, high-quality meats and personalized service.
Being born and raised in Phoenix, popping into a carniceria isn't a big deal. What it is, though, is a treat! I popped in recently for the chicharron de pella at Carniceria Murrieta's and it was delicious. Got guacamole? Pair it with chicharrones! Chicharrones with guacamole is a popular snack pairing the salty, crunchy texture of pork belly with the cool, creamy, and zesty flavor of guacamole. They sell it here. Get it!”
“We got the menudo which was very good and a large like 32 once bowl. We then bought some marinated steak that I grilled later that day. The steak turned out fantastic. We will be back for both items.”
“A long drive for me so when I need to go I have my grocery list ready. Sadly, they’re often out of stock on some produce/herbs and they take a while to restock. Did the rest of my shopping throughout the whole store in hopes they’d restock cilantro then went back before checking-out and still empty. The restaurant section still takes forever to attend & serve customers so I stopped buying there. However, their agua frescas, freshly baked breads & chicharrones are still worth your trip. Anytime I’m here I get the chicharrón con lonja and I haven’t been able to find another place that makes them this good with just the right amount of meat to fat ratio. Their cheese, chorizo, chilies & salsa options are never disappointing. And when here, I also like to stock up on fideos & Val vita tomato sauce pouches if & when on sale. The meat options are amazing, you can definitely find beef tongue, cheek meat, tripe, and other favorite Hispanic cuts for our traditional meals. Customer service is always friendly but I still wish they’d open more registers, every time I go they only have 2 or 3 registers open and very long lines. Self check-out isn’t always quick either as oftentimes people have more than the required items.”
“Carne Asada burrito w/ rice and beans, side of fresh pico de gallo. My favorite, and is always made just right. Jumex strawberry in a twist off can. Its a $10 burrito the size of your arm made fresh to order. Been coming here for almost a decade & never disappoints. Authentic carniceria & fresh daily. Right on Broadway just east of Extension.”
“I came in the last hour and didn't have any carne cooked left. They didn't take long right after and offered to cook on the spot. Most places you go in last hour send you on your way empty handed. I will definitely be coming back here again. Prices were amazing.”
“This carneceria store takes me back to the ole neighborhood markets. Good menudo meat as well as an incredible meat counter. Plenty of Mexican products to select from. They also have a Mexican bakery, totillas, corn and flour.”
“Very clean store where I picked up a great last minute meal. The beans and carne seca were amazing! Price point is a little higher than bigger grocery stores but it’s worth the quicker smaller lines and convenience. Will definitely be back.”
“Great selection of meats, cheese ,bread, yogurt and canned food. Amna the cashier is amazing. Profesional and very welcoming. Good prices!! The garlic sauce is to die for.”
“Love the atmosphere! The BEST Pico de Gallo I have ever eaten anywhere!! The people who work there are so nice & friendly. The meats look so good & fresh. We just found this place & will be going often. Please try the Pico de Gallo, you won't be sorry.”
