“I recently visited this store and overall had a decent experience, but I did notice a few things that could be improved. The customer service was okay.. I was asked if I needed help an acceptable amount of times, but when I did ask for assistance, I was pointed in the general direction of a product instead of actually being taken to it. A little more hands-on service would go a long way.
That said, I really like the store itself. It has a nice, small, and cozy feel that makes it easy to shop in and not overwhelming like some of the bigger places.
The main reason I’m leaving this review is because I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being judged while shopping. I had a fair amount of product in my basket, and I understand I may look young, but that doesn’t make me a thief. I do get that retail theft is a real issue and stores need to be cautious, but in this case it felt like a manager on duty was keeping a close eye on me the entire time.. at one point even standing by the front door as if I might run out. Once he saw me heading toward the register, he came back inside. He wasn’t pushy or confrontational, but it felt unnecessary and uncomfortable.
Besides that, the store was stocked well and I was able to find what I needed.”
“Always find what we need. Had some awesome help today, above & beyound, shame I didn't get his name.
Visited again today for paint, Edwardo was very knowledgeable, sweet as can be, so very helpful.”
“Jacqueline was great to work with! She was knowledgeable about the products, provided information on how to choose exterior paint color, and helped my husband and I select the perfect color for our home. She is a pleasure to work with!”
“Has all the stuff I need and lots I don't. Caters to the local crowd - definitely not discount. We checked them out for a bbq and their selection is pretty good - name brands. Lots of extras to find along the way including exotic snacks from across the world. Go for a toilet plunger, stay for the Japanese flavors of Lays chips. I have an ACE near my other homes and use them almost exclusively. Support local!
Why would I deduct a star? Because there is a bit of O.V.-itis in their customer service and apparently I don't look like I belong in the rarified airs of Oro Valley. I most definitely do, and a hardware store cashier looking down their nose at me is laughable but sad for the store. Too much competition for attitude to fly. The floor people are super helpful but more than once with more than one cashier I've gotten the the dismissive brush off. So I bought my bbq somewhere else. Too bad.”
