Tom is a gentleman who went above and beyond in helping me with an issue I had with screws that were stuck in place on my vehicle’s adjustable roof rails. Tom took the time to find the correct bit, come outside to my vehicle with a step stool and verify the size of each screw. He did his best to remove them for me, but it turns out I will need a right angle wrench type tool to get them loose. I thought I was going to have to drill the screws out because I assumed they were stripped, but Tom verified the bit size and sent me off with exactly the information I needed. I recently lost my father, and Tom reminds me of him. It is very difficult to find professionals with the level of experience and wisdom that Tom has, let alone find someone who understands customer service and what it means to be proactive in helping the customer. The key was bent at 90 degrees and he was able to straighten it out in order to make a new key. He very CAREFULLY used a vise to straighten it out. My experience is that most people would not be conscientious enough to care if the key broke. JOB WELL DONE! EDITTED: May 2026 - Went to Mark's ACE HARDWARE once again to have keys made. Was greeted as I walked through the door by a cheerful young lady, Aurora. That set the tone for the trip to the store. I am recovering from a traumatic arm injury and getting into woodworking, and was lost on what kind of drill to buy when my cheap old one broke and I knew it was time to get an actual good one. Tired of online shopping and getting google ads instead of genuine search results. Finally just went into a store to talk to someone who knew more than me. The employee who helped me (Julie I think) was BEYOND helpful, and also patient with my excitement and rambling and tangential questions about other power tools. She helped me better understand the differences between all the drills and what they do and genuinely took her time to make sure I really was getting something that worked for me personally with my physical ability and project ambitions. Not only that but we found out we had the same exact type of injury and WHAT ARE THE ODDS (its not that common). Truly a case of the universe sending the exact right employee to help me out. Being able to pick up woodworking again has been a monumental milestone in my recovery. At one point I didnt know if I was even going to have two arms. So buying a drill to build furniture and being helped by a kind person who is recovering from the same thing I am, it felt lovely and fateful. This is why I'm an Ace shopper. I can't remember the last time I asked a question at a Home Depot or Lowes and got such thoughtful, personalized help from an employee who very obviously held a real interest and knowledge about the job and cared about my experience there.
