Old Town Horse and Pet
5665 W Ajo Hwy, TucsonWe had a great experience here while looking for a saddle. Kelsee was amazing and made it fun too. She must have pulled 6 or 7 saddles for my husband to try, just to find out what style and size he preferred. Kelsee got it narrowed down for us and provided a lot of information too. We were even able to take the saddle home to try it, with the ability to return it if it didn't suit horse and rider. We are really impressed! It's a 45 minute drive for us and we drove back a second time to get a few other things because of the great service. They have a large selection of new and used tack. Be sure to pay them a visit. Thanks Kelsee!!!!!!?

Sublime Grooming
2608 E Fort Lowell Rd, TucsonThat was the easiest experience by far as of yet I have not even gotten my foot in the door to get my dog’s nails cut because she’s kind of extra and a low-key aggressive Chihuahua. But that was no factor for the salon. They got her in right away didn’t put a muzzle on her. I was able to hold her while josh clipped her nails. He used one method for the back nails, and when that method wasn’t working for the front paws he switched his method up and didn’t continue trying where he was struggling and it was an overall amazing experience. I’ll definitely be back and refer this company to anyone with a difficult dog.

Feline Limited Cat Clinic
3250 N Campbell Ave # 124, TucsonShout out to Jessica, who on my very first phone call to the clinic spent 38 minutes with me on the phone discussing every single concern I have about my cat. She is even knowledgeable in blood chemistry which is not common usually to have someone who answers the phone in reception to have this background. She also has knowledge in different sedatives that would be helpful to calm my cat who becomes a demon at a veterinary clinic. Lastly, she gave me concrete price estimates right over the phone, which I appreciated. I'm very impressed with her knowledge, caring disposition and patience and that is why I made an appointment. If my visit turns out anything close to the treatment I received from Jessica over the phone then I will be ecstatic.
Edit: I have been going to this clinic ever since. Dr. Upchurch is experienced and even more so for the sheer fact that she sees only cats so she has that much more exposure to feline ailments. She has diagnosed my cat with pemphigus foliaceus, which is extremely rare but she had a hunch right away what it was and knew what tests to order to get a confirmation. Ive seen people online go on for months with undiagnosed pemphigus on their cats because the vets don't know what they are looking at. Thanks to Dr. Upchurch, I was not one of those unfortunate people and my cat got relief very quickly.
She also just diagnosed my other cat with feline resorptive lesions. I am so lucky have Dr. Upchurch as my vet.
One of my cats is a screamer and turns into the hulk at the vet. Dr. Upchurch is the only one that knows how to handle him properly. Every other vet that I have seen struggles handling my difficult cat but Dr. Upchurch has a special touch and she just knows how to handle them.
In addition, her prices are reasonable and cheaper than other vets.
I still strongly recommend this clinic.

Balboa's Bed & Biscuit
8640 E Tanque Verde Rd, TucsonMy baby Taro had such a great time here! I boarded him for 7 days and got grooming too. Everyone is so friendly here and so helpful. You can tell the staff here all really love dogs. They do a meet and greet before boarding to get your pup used to the facility and the staff members. Taro loved all of them and he got spoiled with so many treats. The kennels were clean and spacious and you can request more private ones if your dog doesn’t do well with other dogs. The outdoor play area is big and your dog will get plenty of cuddles, butt scratches, and pets! They also did a fantastic job with his bath. My Rottweiler hates baths but he came home smelling so nice and his fur was so soft and fluffy. The staff here are professional and easy to contact by phone and email. I appreciate the photos they sent me when I asked for updates! Highly recommend! And just fyi the turn into the facility is right before the fire station.

New Dogs - Old Trix
3042 S Quail Trail, TucsonSusan is an incredible dog trainer and person. I reached out to her just two weeks after bringing home my puppy because I needed help. She was the only one out of the four or five people that I contacted that actually got back to me. I think she could sense the exhaustion in my voice and she reassured me in that first conversation of so many things that helped. She trained my puppy when he was just five months old. I was able to be involved during the duration of his three week board and train and she gave me all the skills and a write up to reference when he came home. The first night home, I had some questions and she came over the very next morning to help. Since then, she has been an amazing resource any time things have come up. I’m also grateful to be able to board with her whenever I need to leave town and can’t bring him with.I recommend Susan 100%

Dog MastersTraining
3219 E Blacklidge Dr, TucsonWhere to start… I started working with Gene about a year ago and then actually listening to him and implementing his methods maybe six months ago. ? Gene’s approach to dog training blows my mind. I couldn’t fathom training a dog without using treats. I’ve taken my dogs to numerous classes and private lessons and always start with a huge pouch of treats and they fall all over themselves to do what I want… when I have treats. Then I have a food obsessed, overweight pooch who has bonded with the food. Gene didn’t train my dog as much as he taught me how to interact with him from canine, not human, behavioral perspective.I didn't know any of that before Gene, of course, but now it's easy to see. Basically what he did is teach me how to build a trusting relationship with my dog: just me and him. We have developed an amazing connection that I don't think I've had with any dog prior. Using nothing but affection for a reward! I learned I don't have to bribe him; he does whatever I ask (sometimes begrudgingly) and I can reward him with praise. He still gets treat time and his bully sticks and all that, but he looks me in the eye now waiting for direction. He's calm and secure because he knows what he's supposed to be doing and when. He constantly looks to me for direction and is responsive to even hand cues now.Gene will teach you to build the foundation of your relationship with your dog and methods to control negative behaviors WITHOUT the use of food or force. I know, sounds crazy, doesn't it? It's a game changer I wish I'd learned years ago.

Oh, Behave! Pet Training & Behavior Solutions
6121 E Broadway Blvd Ste 139, TucsonCindy came highly recommended to me from a Facebook post I made asking for dog trainers. Today was my first session with her and I can already see a difference in how my dog is walking on the leash. I rescued a pitty from PACC 2 weeks ago and was warned he pulled on the leash, and is reactive to other dogs. I didn’t know the extent of it until I Brought him home and realized I needed help. Cindy came to my house, showed me how to correct my dogs pulling, then we went to the dog park so she could see how he reacts to dogs. Let me tell you….it takes strength and confidence to handle a 80lb pitty going crazy. She did it, and I was impressed. Still have a lot to work on with Casper, but she did a darn good job. Sent us home with homework too which we will work on this weekend Looking forward to the next session and seeing the growth with Casper.

For anyone wondering how good the food is, normally I hear an audible gasp every time I introduce someone and they have their first experience. Me and a majority of my employees, both past and present, have repeatedly eaten here and over a couple YEARS I have not heard one bad showing. The employees always have great service. Old Pueblo Cellars
10088 N St Patrick Rd, TucsonWhat a sweet find in the northwest. Wanted to try a wine tasting but not have to travel far. Made reservations ahead of time but when we arrived we weren't on the list. However after a bit of confusion about price changes, and where we should sit, etc Anna and Toby made us feel very welcome. Anna assured us prices quoted would be honored for our group (they were)and Toby was knowledgeable and fun as our server. He did a fantastic job of handling 2 different wine tastings at the same table with 2 separate groups. We learned that they were having a Thanksgiving event with a market too. Probably added to confusion some, as they were busy.. After our fun tasting we checked out the market, their gift shop items and tried some of their mulled wine. Excellent!
What might make this place a bit better might be better signage once there. We weren't sure where to check-in for tasting and when ours was starting, etc. We learned the ropes from someone who was just finishing up after their tasting.
We definitely had fun and are planning our next visit. Super find!

N Roller Coaster Rd, TucsonMe and my wife had the pleasure of working with Heather and her team. We required a bit of extra help due to a trip and she worked with us every step of the way. She allowed us the time, without rushing us, to sit and interact with the puppies. We already had one picked out, but of course when we did go to pick her up we ended up taking her sister home with us well.
They had their first initial vet visit and they are perfectly healthy and happy. She also charges way less for all of the initial shots versus a standard vet. So she has saved us money on that end as well. We would have no hesitation getting our next puppy from her in the future.

Rescue Me Tucson, Rescue Me Marana Pet Adoption Center
6401 Marana Center Blvd Suite 902, TucsonWe adopted our amazing cat from here and had an amazing experience!
I am wary of shelters that don't ask questions of potential owners, or who are not thorough in the application process. I have unfortunately seen shelters send animals to homes where it was not a good fit.
However, I felt that the staff at Rescue Me Tucson care a lot about their animals' well-being. They asked me questions and were able to answer all of mine. As a result, eclipse is very happy in her new home!

PAWSitively CATS
1145 N Woodland Ave, TucsonAs most reviewers have noted, this is a wonderful shelter for a wide range of cats. There are so many different cats with different looks, different personalities, and different needs (several pictured here, available to adopt). They provide lots of love, personalized care, inside and outside spaces, and of course all of the necessities here.
They are a small independent non-profit with limited space and operated mostly through volunteers. Based on space and staffing, they may understandably not be at the same level of responsiveness and social media presence as businesses or larger shelters. You admittedly may need to be a little more proactive for volunteer opportunities than you might need to be with some other places. They are also entitled to set their own guidelines for adoptions and visitations.
As far as a couple low reviews on here, I understand giving bad reviews on here if it's deserved (trust me, I do it all the time lol). That is different than pouting because you don't get your way. If you go to Chick Fil A and they won't give you a double cheeseburger, that doesn't mean Chick Fil A deserves a bad rating, that means you need to go next door to Burger King. If you apply for a third shift warehouse job opening at Amazon and ask for a first shift office job, that doesn't mean Amazon needs a bad review for not hiring you, that means you need to apply to an office. If you want a small local volunteer-based group to have more social media presence, instead of whining in reviews, volunteer to put your love of yapping online for attention to good use for their organization.

Southwest Oasis Labrador Rescue
7739 E Broadway Blvd UNIT 212, TucsonThree and a half years ago, I discovered SOLR. We had lost our lab of 12 years and were sad and very much needed a new fur baby in our life. We had our home visit completed very quickly and were able to start our search. We found a dog that was a great fit and contacted his foster parents who talked over the dog with us. We set up a meeting in our home and everyone hit it off. They have a 24 hour sleep on it period which is actually quite a blessing. I fostered years ago with another lab rescue and had a few times that I went too quickly and had dogs returned. This allows both sides to be sure you're finding the right fit and that the dogs, who have already gone through traumatic experiences to get here, find their furever home.
After 2+ years, we decided to start volunteering here since it's such a great organization. I do home visits now and last year we adopted our second fur baby.
This organization, ultimately is saving as many labs as they can and working to find the best home for the dogs and the families they are re-homed to.
I have been very happy working with them and adopting them. Here are our babies, Duke & Daisy.
