The Board member that showed me around was very passionate about helping dogs. I especially appreciate that they are willing to help dogs that are not so well behaved and other unique circumstances.

Ironwood Pig Sanctuary
34656 E Crystal Visions Rd, MaranaI’ve been supporting Ironwood Pig Sanctuary for about 15 years. I originally adopted one of the pigs, but he eventually passed away, so I kept the payment going for general support. The place was founded by a women who wanted to provide a place for the large number of “mini pigs” that people buy and then find out that there is no such thing as a mini pig. These pigs generally get over 100 pounds, some over 300 pounds. These pigs are left at shelters or are just generally neglected and discarded. Mary takes them in and gives them a safe and comfortable place to live out their lives. They do tours on Saturdays, by reservation via their website. Updated from previous review on 2025-03-23

This location is always busy & I’ve personally seen customers getting rude & impatient with them when it’s out of their control. They stand out in the heat with very little shade (I see you finally put umbrellas up for them). They all deserve a raise!
