Amazon Fresh Expands Footprint to 60 Stores
Amazon Fresh, the online retail giant's grocery chain, has hit the 60-store mark after recently opening 10 new stores across the country, the company confirmed.
"We're encouraged by early signs coming from stores that follow the refreshed design we debuted in Chicago and Southern California late last year," said Amazon spokesperson Abigail Buch, referring to the chain's latest brick-and-mortar look.
The newly opened locations range from 31,000 to 59,000 square feet and include three stores in California, two in New York, and one each in Maryland, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. For some communities, like Long Island's Suffolk County and Montgomery County near Philadelphia, it marks their first taste of Amazon's grocery experience.

Amazon Fresh's growth spurt comes after the company hit pause on expansion early last year. Many of the new stores, like the ones in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania and Plainview, New York, were originally leased around 2020 but faced delayed openings.
"We're thrilled to open our newest Amazon Fresh grocery store right here in the heart of Willow Grove," said Lionel Triplett, Amazon Fresh regional manager. "This opening invites customers in Greater Philadelphia to experience grocery shopping with Amazon Fresh, both in-store and online."
In addition to traditional grocery offerings, Amazon Fresh stores include high-tech features like smart Dash Carts, palm-based Amazon One payment, and rotating deals for Prime members.

While the company declined to share specific expansion targets, Amazon said it will continue testing locations in various markets and base next steps on customer response. With over 50 stores now across eight states, it seems the Amazon's grocery experiment is picking up steam.
