“A casual convenience store and gift shop that feels like a mix of both. They carry a lot of Chinese and Asian-inspired items, including cute bowls, tea sets, and other small gifts. Many of the items are made in China, but they were nicely designed and seemed reasonably priced if you’re looking for something fun or decorative.
Overall, it’s a simple little shop with a casual selection. Worth stopping by if you’re looking for affordable Asian-style kitchenware or small gifts, but don’t expect a curated boutique experience.”

“This is a small but interesting convenience store in the UBC Bookstore! It's a great place to grab a quick but tasty lunch or snack: they have a great selection of fresh food from local stores which includes sandwiches from Pequish, sushi from Nikkyu, vegan cookies from Panela Lemon and To Live For, Chinese baked goods from Pine House, and more. Except for Saturday where they're just trying to clear out what's leftover from the week and the selection may be limited, there's usually a wide variety and it's all fresh. There's self-serve hot tea (lots of varieties by Numi) and coffee too.
They also have a good selection of groceries/packaged snacks available - it's not the type of convenience store you'd stop at to grab a basic pantry item, but in the same vein as the fresh food offerings, there's an interesting selection of snacks, both standard stuff like chips and candy, but also some more uncommon and health-oriented things, including stuff like microwavable meals. The fridges here have one of the better selections of iced coffee/tea and energy drinks around campus.
The staff are mostly nice, and the prices are basically in line with everything else around the area (and the ready-to-eat things like the sandwiches and sushi are a little cheaper than they would be if you got them from a cafe or full restaurant).”
“The owner is polite and the shop has a broad selection of snacks, drinks, etc. The place is also commonly open until 11pm which has really been helpful during my time on campus.”
“Stopped by, very nice atmosphere and cute shop. The women that served us was incredibly kind and the coffee + muffins were very good. The wrap and vegan toast were also very tasty. I can recommend this shop”

“Firstly I do enjoy shopping at the Bowen General Store as most of the employees and owner are very nice.
However on January 13th mid day | was served at the cash by a woman not the owner. I asked for an item behind the cash and was descriptive of the item as it comes in several flavours. On my way home I opened the package to find out it was not the flavour I had requested. Yuck!!! The item cost $60.00. I was upset as I would not be able to return it. Later in the day I returned to buy a different product and mentioned to the same person she had mistakenly given me the wrong product. Her response was not I'm sorry but that I didn't specify what I wanted. I have been asking for this product for over 40 years and as it comes in several flavours I know what I said. Long store short. Make a mistake admit it rather than always having to be right. Next time I walk in and she is at the cash I will simply walk up to the shop up the hill and purchase it there along with many many other items.”
