Honestly, describing a cashier doing their assigned job as “aggressive selling” seems a little exaggerated.
Cashiers don’t decide which products or promotions they are expected to mention. They are simply following workplace instructions. If a customer isn’t interested, they can say no, and the cashier should move on. That’s really all there is to it.
Retail employees are people too. They are expected to follow company procedures while dealing with hundreds of customers, and they shouldn’t be made to feel like they’ve done something terrible simply because they promoted a product they were instructed to promote.
It’s perfectly reasonable to dislike a promotion. But turning a routine interaction at a checkout into a public complaint about how “uncomfortable” grocery shopping has become feels like making a very small issue much bigger than it needs to be.
Maybe a little understanding for the person simply doing their job would go a long way.”

I asked if they could write something on a birthday cake for me, luckily someone working at the customer service desk worked in the bakery previously. She obliged when she didn’t have to!! “Good store to find South East Asia product, if that's what you look for but for me their best sections are sea food products and pastry sections. They have nice looking cakes which are usually less sweet than others (that's our preference, some stores use excessive amount of suger).”
