“I cannot say enough great things about Vellers Auto. On my way into Port Alberni my van started to shake very badly. Luckily I made it to my friends' place, which was a planned stop on my way to van-camp (already reserved and paid for) in Ucluelet. I left a desperate message to Vellers Auto that night and not having any other option, I shakily drove to Vellers early in the morning before hearing back from them. Everyone I spoke to, before and after the repair, was absolutely wonderful. Vellers was swamped with work that day and stated that they would likely not be able to get back to me until mid-afternoon. At the time, I was very grateful for that. Magically, I received a call from them at around 1:30 PM. They said that my van was totally repaired and that I could come and pick it up. It was amasing ! The relief and emotion I felt was undescribable. How kind of Vellers to make my unfortunate and somewhat desperate situation all better. Also, it was a serious sounding repair and, to be honest, I felt the price was very fair. The van worked well all the way to Long Beach and then back to the Gulf Island I live on and has worked very well ever since. “While traveling through Port Alberni, we ran into some clutch issues with our vehicle. We showed up at B&A Transmission without an appointment, and they immediately took the time to check out our car. Together with their team, we were able to go through a detailed and clear diagnosis — open, honest, and hands-on.
What really stood out was that they did this entire inspection completely free of charge — a rare and truly appreciated gesture!
Although they weren’t able to carry out the repair due to it being a European vehicle with limited parts availability, their effort and attitude were outstanding. Super friendly, honest, and down-to-earth people who genuinely care and want to help.

“We had an amazing experience with Quay West Automotive! Our older 1980s camper van was struggling to handle all the hills and turns the island had. We were on the Island for a trip and were worried we wouldn’t make it home because of our van not staying in gear. So we called Quay West and they got us in the next day and fix the problem right away! The van runs even better than we thought it could! “Travelling through Port Alberni (hauling our 25’ travel trailer) our truck suddenly went into low engine power mode and wasn’t drivable. It was a Friday afternoon and we were on our way to Ucluelet/Tofino. We tried three different mechanics including the GM dealership and nobody had the time to come with a code reader to diagnose our issue. The earliest anybody could help would have been Monday morning and this would have impacted our vacation. Our fourth call was to Offroad Diesel. We couldn’t believe our good fortune when the owner Joe Hawkins said he could come immediately to help. Within minutes he was at our truck and diagnosed our issue. We unhooked and had BCAA tow our vehicle to the shop. Joe said he would see if anyone had the needed part and if they did would have it shipped overnight. He then would have his son come in early on the Saturday morning to complete the repair. Everything came together as planned and we were able to pick up the truck at 10 am and continue on with our vacation. I can’t say enough about the level of service Joe and his son provided us and in our estimation at a very reasonable and fair price. Thanks so much guys!”
