“I’ve passed by the Stone Room for years and only went in for the first time very recently looking to find a gift for someone. The shop is compact, but well-stocked and features a stunning and impressive array of crystals and stones from all over the world, including fossils. Tenzin was very warm, personable, and highly knowledgeable, and helped me pick out a citrine bead bracelet for my gift - and I ended up purchasing a two bracelets for myself (a rainbow fluorite and a pink amethyst & pink opal combo) and a prehnite stone at her recommendation. Overall a great shopping experience and will definitely be coming back again.”

“I visited my kids during their Spring Break. My daughter got a little job at Hal's Office Coffee shop. She wanted to show me her new place of employment. I hadn't been to Albany in over 10 years! I immediately vibed with the little town. After my daughter picked up some coffee, I knew I wanted to walk around. I was instantly drawn to Umami. What stunning artifacts. As a minimalist, I wanted to buy everything! I graciously and gladly resorted to and settled on a set of earrings and necklace. I absolutely love them. Umami is a beautiful shop. And the Shop Attendant was just as beautiful, sweet, helpful, personable, and welcoming. When I visit my kids next, during the summer, I will be back!”

“A lovely and well curated little shop in Albany. Just steps from Solano Ave but easy to miss on a side street, this place is a delight. They have ceramics, incense, jewelry, perfumes, body wash, cards, small gifts. I think I saw granola, olive oil and a few cookbooks. They also have a good selection of gently used clothes, shoes, and bags. Kind people behind the counter. Just a wonderful place all round. I hope this store stays for a long time to come!”

“This is a delightful store, rich with all things Oaxacan. The owner is from Oaxaca and has a family background that is fascinating. His uncle is the famous artist Rufino Tamayo, and he has various posters, reflecting museum events featuring Tamayo. But the shop itself is simply filled with wonderful pieces of art and crafts. I recommend it highly.”
