“I had a great experience shopping for a ring at Cullen! Victoria in the San Francisco location worked with us to try on a bunch of different rings. She was patient and informative throughout, and followed up quickly once we were ready to continue the process. Then we worked with Sherry and Gabrielle in Australia to customize the ring. They were happy to go back and forth with me until everything was to our liking. The time zone difference was not an issue at all. Finally, Victoria worked with me to pick out the perfect stone for the design. Overall everything went smoothly and was stress free!”

“I don't even know where to begin with Gigi :-). She is just STELLAR. Great to work with, awesome personality, clear, communicative, a true artist... I came to her with a ring I needed to have reset (and transformed). I wanted to keep some of the integrity of the original piece while also breathing new life/my own personality into it. I had an idea of what I wanted but no clue of how it would be geometrically feasible. Gigi (somehow) figured it out and it is GORGEOUS. It was not an easy design and it involved very delicate stones. Her design and her Goldsmith's work were phenomenal. We then turned the remaining jewels into a beautiful necklace. I want to do more projects with Gigi!”

“I have frequented “Bill’s Trading Post” since I was welcomed warmly to browse as a child in the 70’s and I am thrilled it is still there. Twenty years later, I travelled with a friend through the southwest. Later, the salesperson at Bill’s asked to see my friend’s bracelet and not only correctly identified the craftsman but shared that the maker was a recluse, making our chance visit with his family when we bought the bracelet that much more special. Back in Berkeley this year, I had a watch battery replaced and later the band repaired. The work was unimaginably inexpensive and quick and the employees such a pleasure I felt compelled to share here.”

“The first thing the owner showed me was a silver moldavite ring. Out of dozens of beautiful stones in the case, he somehow picked the one I was already carrying in my bag. Five minutes later we were discussing tektites, meteorites, Tibetan jewelry, gold versus silver, and why we use copper electrical wiring instead of gold. The owner is knowledgeable, funny and full of stories. My favorite involved the Chinese shopkeeper nearby, with whom he shares an evening cigarette and apparently a quiet, politics-free friendship. At some point, he gave him bodhi beads. The man had no idea what they were but accepted them anyway. Perfect. I left with a Tibetan Ah and a small vajra/dorje pendants. Gifts of Tara is part jewelry shop, part cultural archive, part unexpected conversation you will remember. Go in to browse. You may leave with a pendant, a Tibet or meteorite story, and several new thoughts about the universe. ☄”

I appreciated how the store owner allowed me to pair and match various baskets even though they were filled with inventory. I was able to pick up last-minute Christmas presents from Nepal, Kenya and India. If you are looking to add more color or geometric designs to your household, there's a drool-worthy section of constellation-inspired houseware (like salt cellars with stars on them) and beautiful basket planters all over the shop.”

We found an engagement ring with a setting we loved and the owner helped us source a different center stone because we had our hearts set on a green sapphire in the same shade as a center stone from another ring in the store. The entire shopping experience was personalized and relaxed. The owner Rada is a wonderful resource, knows her gems, is transparent, and cares about sustainable practices. Her shop was tucked in behind other stores but well worth the trip. The jewelry is beautiful and stylish. Such a great find!”

To be honest, I don’t go into the store much even though I live nearby and I went in for the first time and found myself a wonderful well-made lined white linen dress that I can wear to the rehearsal dinner in a warm climate. And I paid half of what I might’ve paid from any other store, it’s crowded with merchandise so you have to look carefully , but there are very nice things”
