“This place is a GEM! They had everything I needed and everyone I interacted with, including the owner, was so helpful!
I’ve been looking for a store near me that sold Mohawk touch up products and am so glad I finally discovered this place. They had everything I was looking for and had ALL the colors.
I bought several Blendal sticks, graining markers, a Pro-mark marker, and a quick fill burn in stick. Best of all, I was able to walk in and out with everything in less than 15 minutes.
Seriously, I’ve spent hours over several weeks searching and debating where to but these from. I couldn’t find a single website that sold all of these products and had the colors I was looking for (basically all variations of mahogany). Not only are the prices here comparable to what I found online, I saved so much money not needing to pay for shipping.
I almost resorted to Amazon out of desperation but House of Color SSF came through cheaper and so much faster!! THANK YOU!!”

“Really great experience at the Sherwin-Williams paint store on El Camino Real in San Mateo. I walked in with a messy problem, a bunch of custom HOA exterior colors that don't exist in any system, and needed help figuring out what to actually buy. The staff took the time to work through it with me, pulled up old formulas, and explained what each product was for. Super patient, friendly, and honestly just nice to deal with. “Outstanding service!! Go in and ask for George for any residential projects, he’s a master, he helped us with several rooms in our house. Picking colors is harder than you realize! In selecting colors, there are chiefs and there are Indians. You may think you’re a Chief, but you’re not. You’re just an Indian, George is the Chief.”
“So the range of opinion here is valid in terms of customer service and selection. It isn't really a typical hardware store. An odd mix of contractor oriented wholesaler and an old school neighborhood hardware store in terms of parts and "hardware".The reason for my high(er) score, is that if I am looking for plumbing/faucet parts, or nuts/bolts/screws, I am more likely to find it here than one of the Ace Hardware stores, or even Home Depot or Lowe's, which really surprises me.”

“I had a fantastic experience at Gray’s Paint in San Mateo thanks to Luca.
I brought in an old can of paint and wanted a new can mixed to match it. Two other employees told me it wasn’t possible because the formula was too old, and that they would need an actual paint sample from my wall.
Luca stepped in and said, “Let me figure it out.” He took the time to troubleshoot the problem, and somehow managed to create a quart of paint that matched my wall perfectly! I was so impressed with both his knowledge and his determination to find a solution instead of simply saying no.
Great customer service like this is hard to find. If you need paint or expert advice, I highly recommend asking for Luca. Thank you for going the extra mile!”
