“Great service. Everything on the RV was well prepared and explained in details, so we did not have any problems with using the RV. Same good experience with returning the RV.”

“I rented a stump grinder, was new and person behind desk on Saturday was helpful. I filled up gas tank on machine before returning and he refunded my gas charge on bill . Everything went well”

“Danny and his crew are a great team to work with. I've been coming here for nearly 20 years. Equipment is in good condition, and they'll go out of their way to make something right if it fails during use (I've rented Bobcats, Excavators, Trailers, Jumping Jacks, etc....things break). 5 Stars for the continued effort for keeping the homeowner's arsenal of tools ready to go at a moment's notice.”

“3.5* rounding upReservation ProcessRented mid-sized truck for 1000mi+ one-way rental. Unlimited miles. I found that cheapest rate was several months in advance, or very last minute, two days out. Therefore, I suggest, since there is no cancellation penalty on the reservation, make a reservation as soon as you know you need one, then keep "gardening" your reservation, to checking one last time just more than 24 hours before you need rental to see if you can get better rate. Within 24 hours they'll give you a warning saying "we can't guarantee availability" of your equipment or something to that effect. Still, it was over $1,500 for just the truck, no accessories or insurance included.PickupMy truck was ready on-time though they were busy. Busy enough that the guy pulling the truck out didn't want to count the number of furniture pads. I told him 3x "as long as I leave with X number of pads I need and am not hassled at the other Penske when I return, I'm fine." So, he kept adding more pads. Glad I kept repeating same line...there was one more than the number of pads I needed and one fewer than how many I had rented. What I didn't see is that the pads he did give me were covered in plastic cling and packing tape which my workers wasted 20 minutes undoing and discarding. Save yourself the hassle, and no matter how busy they are here, have them count the number of pads for you and check they're in ready-to-use condition.TruckWas relatively new with under 30k miles. They do have a speed governor installed which limits you below the limits in many states for vehicles of that size, though it probably does give you better fuel economy. Governor limits cruise control to 70mph. It limits overall vehicle speed to 75mph. Cab is typical and smelled strongly of BO. I don't think I've ever rented a truck like this that didn't reek of BO though. A/C worked well in the heat, which was a relief. But there was no re-circ on the air so passing through smoky areas or dusty areas or idling in traffic fumes was no fun. Fuel economy was at the upper end of the range with a 2k lbs load and driving 55-70mph over a couple of sets of mountains, we got 11.5+ mpg.Overall, not a bad process, but there are a few issues of which to be aware. And hey, it could be a lot worse...uhaul has set the floor tremendously low.”

“I've been coming here for years, family friends since Serra Bowling days. My uncle and Phil Sr have been friends for even longer than that. Anytime my cars need work, I always come here. Recently, I brought my 2014 Mazda here for repair only to discover that it was a total loss. Phil and Jun took care of me the entire way, handling everything professionally with insurance and ensuring I was informed about what was happening throughout the process. Phil also gave me some perspective on what I could do with my wife's car which was also totaled but uninsured at the time of the accident. Service was above and beyond, and I'm always happy to come here.”

“Great, easy, smooth experience. Friendly and helpful staff. After hours return was simple & quick. Vehicle and equipment well kept. Worth the drive out of SF to use this location if you’re debating this or another location. Free, safe parking lot across the street. 10/10 would recommend.”

“Best value and time spent. This was by far the best deal we found looking all over the Bay Area. While the location is out of the way it has never been very busy, meaning you are in and out quickly.”

“8/2023-Mostly a positive experience with checkout except their truck photos didn't show a big paint chips on the hood which I disputed before checking out. Checking in was mostly positive except the cashier was unknowledgeable about how charges would be badge if different from the original estimate.3/2020-I was so reluctant to use these guys after reading all the horrible reviews but I didn't have any other choices for an in-city move small pickup truck. Booked online the night before and price was reasonable. Moving day and visited store and declined the extra liability coverage ($10). Their online check-in and acceptance procedure was fairly painless. Although the photos they presented was the truck very clean and washed but when I got it the interior and exterior were a bit dirty but not a huge deal. I still took my own photos just in case. About 15 min and was out the door. $20 + $0.79/mile. 2 hours later and returned with gas replaced. A few extras miles was accrued and charged. I think I was very lucky compared to all the previous reviews.”

“Rick is an outstanding human being and kind and efficient Uhaul dealer. He went above and beyond to help when our truck got towed while we were moving. I cannot recommend enough!”

“Glad I picked this U-haul location for my first ever u-haul experience. They had the vehicle I reserved ahead of time, and was friendly, patient, and easy to deal with. The 10' truck was surprisingly easy to drive too, although do note that the trucks don't come with tie-down equipment in the cargo hold, so you'll need to secure your items yourself.”

“First timers renting Rv and it was awesome. The San Mateo location is very friendly (they don't try to nickel and dime you) and the Rv was clean and ran very well. We rented the standard size and it was not that hard to drive. Having own bathroom and shower is so relaxing and eliminates worry of finding hotel or restroom. The refrigerator kept our food/ice cream/ drinks cold whole time and hardly used much propane. We dumped our black and gray tanks in the rwc Rv park for $25 and then filled up gas before returning the Rv. Will do it again soon as the Rv experience is a lot of fun. The radio now has Bluetooth so you can play music from your iphone easy while it charges on the drive - nice.”

“The owner was very helpful and I was in & out less than 10 minutes. This store was non-standard U-haul store which I find more helpful service than traditional U-haul. Also comes with handy hand truck for usage.”

“Both of the workers were really helpful and friendly. There are a lot of bad reviews on Google, however, I think this location is misunderstood. I wonder how many customers make a last minute reservation and then find out that their truck is not available. They then write a bad review, when in reality it’s their own fault for not reserving earlier. Don’t take your own irresponsibility on workers when they are not able to magically have equipment appear due to bad planning.”

“I Had a fantastic experience here, and I dont know why they seem to have a bad rap. I messed up and made my reservation a couple hours later than I should have due to bad time estimates, BUT the guy at the desk did what he could to try and get me a van early. A very friendly and helpful team that seems to be treated poorly by customers who are stressed about moves. I was nice to the attendant and in return he did everything to make sure my LONG drive up the coast was smooth and easy. He gave me plenty of pointers on how to drive it, where to find cheap gas, and what to do if I have any challenges. 100% would go back/recommend.”

“Was pleasantly surprised. Made a reservation for a cargo van over a month in advance (reservation was for a mid-month rental) and while I was concerned due to the poor reviews and possibility of getting “upgraded“ to a bigger vehicle with lower gas mileage for a cross country on-way rental, I was relieved when I arrived to see that they had dozens of cargo vans available. I arrived a half hour before they officially opened but the gate was open and after waiting for 15 minutes the manager noticed me and asked if he could help. After finding out that I was making a cross country trip he gave me a new cargo van that had very low mileage. Had to wait a few more minutes for them to fill the tank up, but otherwise no issue.”
