Chateau Davell Winery
3020 Vista Tierra Dr, CaminoMy wife and I have now found our new favorite winery, Chateau Davell. What struck us when we first went in was the incredible artwork painted by the owner, Erik, that gave it a warm ambiance. Then seeing the same paintings on the labels, with each telling a story about one of his family members enhanced the experience. Then as the icing to the cake, the wines were really good, making us subscribe to their wine club. It just got better as they have a food menu to die for. We just needed a small appetizer so we got the figs with a burrata cheese (?) topped with hot honey and balsamic vinegar. It was delightful.

Jack Russell Farm Brewery
2380 Larsen Dr, CaminoFirst visit to Jack Russell Farm Brewery and it definitely won’t be the last. The outdoor seating area is awesome. plenty of space, relaxed vibe, and really nice views that make it easy to hang out for a while. We tried a couple of pale ales and both were solid, easy-drinking, and well made. One of the regulars, Rick, was hanging around and ended up grabbing us a few beers and sharing some great stories, super friendly guy and added to the whole experience.

Tropics Island Grill & Ale House
3590 Carson Rd, CaminoI came in for a late lunch after a long weekend of camping and ordered the crispy sweet and tangy beef. It was very good and the portion size was perfect. The lady who helped me was a hard worker and holding down the fort! Will definitely be going back.

Sportsman's Hall
5620 Pony Express Trail, CaminoI love eating at this place which is located in Pollock Pines. The owner is very nice and the staff work very hard and are personable. They took us in even though we had a large group. I like the rustic interior along with the fireplace and it may not be elagant but it is cozy. My wife and I ordered the meat loaf sandwhich and it was smaller than I have gotten in the past and it was dry. Our server was prompt and right on point and she made sure that our drinks were full. Our family ordered burgers and they enjoyed their food and I recommend that when you are on your way to tahoe and you simply want to eat some good food this place is great!

Apple Ridge Farms - Apple Hill #20
1800 Larsen Dr, CaminoCame here on a Monday. It was still pretty busy (perhaps because it was the day before Veteran's day and kids had the day off). Didn't get any food here except kettle corn, but they have a large bakery which looked nice. They also have lunch food like sandwiches. My boyfriend and his friend had a tri-tip and something else I can't remember and I think they said it was pretty mid. I would only come to Apple Hill for bakery, though.
We went on the nature trail, which was very nice. The zinnias are well past their prime, though (November), so if you want to see them at their peak, come in September or so. That's when I hope to come back because most of them were dying since their annuals. It was still pretty, though, and there were bees and painted lady butterflies taking part in the nectar of the remaining ones.
There's also a lot of crafts here, if you're into that.
I would probably only come back here for the nature trail and maybe some bakery. But it was very scenic and a very nice place to have a picnic. Looking forward to seeing the zinnias in peak bloom next year.
