Top notch school. Professor Rich and his instructor staff are excellent. Students there were helpful, skilled, "firm but fair". I trained here for a few months and truly appreciated every interaction and the detailed instruction. Improved my game significantly, immediately. I attended day classes "lunchtime roll". Approach to teaching technique was laid back and also very specific. That may sound contradictory but you have to experience to understand. Great people. And for those of us who are older : TWO INDIVIDUAL SHOWERS + towel service. Wow! Definitely five stars.

We moved out of state and after training with Rich and Kevin for several years, my kids have a solid foundation and love of BJJ that they are continuing to build on at their new academy. It’s not an understatement to say that Samurai is one of the things we all miss most about California. If you are fortunate enough to be within a reasonable driving distance from there, THIS is the program to enroll yourself and/or children 100%!!

I've been training here for over a year and can't speak more highly of this gym. Rich and Kevin are excellent coaches, and the instruction is top notch. You can definitely tell that Rich is a John Danaher black belt. There are people from all skill levels and no egos which makes for a lot of great rolls. It's also the only academy in the area that has no gi 5x a week (6 days if you count open mat!). Highly recommended.

My 8 year old son has been going here for over 6 months now. Rich and Kevin are wonderful with kids and they both make the gym feel very friendly and welcoming. I can't recommend this gym enough. My husband and I are so grateful we found Samurai BJJ. It's been a super positive experience for our whole family.

My son seems to have very little interest in any physical activities, but for some reason he really enjoys samurai Brazilian jiu jitsu. He will often ask me when is the next class. I like how they offer a no hassle 1 week free trial. No pressure in sales or anything. Classes are offer from Mondays to Saturdays and class capacity is pretty open. For the monthly subscription price and the class flexibility, I think the class is totally worth it. Definitely would recommend for anybody or at least try their one week trial.

I dropped in for two visits while on a work trip and cannot recommend this gym enough. Rich, the owner, was very welcoming. The gym is clean and the people that train there are friendly.

This place is the best. All kids get a lot of personal attention and instruction. The coaches are knowledgeable, personable and just have great energy. Lots of positive feedback - you can see the kids light up when they get it. Can’t say enough good things about samurai bjj, 2 months in and our son is thriving here.

It’s an awesome BJJ gym with great coaches both good for adults and kids. My son, Artem, likes it very much and stays motivated to progress.UPD I went ahead and started training there too. It’s how I like it simply by watching my son doing it!

I dropped by this BJJ academy for a trial and was impressed with how everything is operated. Very smooth communication to arrange the free trial (3 days / 1 week), and the instructors are top notch. There is a recurring schedule for mornings and evenings to fit your training needs. Each instructor provided very strong technical detail about techniques and moves. As for sparring, the sessions were both technical and fun. Samurai BJJ also has a very strong kids program for those looking to get their children enrolled to build self-defense skills, discipline, and confidence. Facility is great with water dispenser, bathrooms, showers, and a good mat space. Very transparent about pricing. Highly recommended.

I've visited once during an open mat and it was awesome. Smiles per square feet was off the charts. In my experience living in the Bay Area I've met personally a number of people that either train here or have their young children train here and I've literally only gotten positive feedback. Super open no matter what school you train at or what experience level you are.If I was in the area, I'd choose to train here. If you are around this school, please check it out. It'll be well worth it!

One of the ways that I can speak to a school is by having relationships with people that train at that school. For context I run a BJJ school in my area of my own and I've had personal friends move to the area and start at Samurai, I've trained with complete strangers from Samurai, and my mgr at work actually has her children train there (along with coworkers). It's quite interesting to note that they have all been technical, super humble, and can't praise Samurai enough. I've always wanted to start my own school to be able to provide a space that makes it easy for my students to be happy and it's no easy task. I usually am looking at it from an owner's view but thankfully Samurai allows me to see their school from the students' perspective and I've been so impressed. I've visited it during an open mat was just so cool to be there. If anyone is in this area please give these guys a shot. It'll be well worth it!

Great environment, great atmosphere and cleanliness. Professors are so knowledgeable and treat you like a student that's been there for months. I did a drop in, cause I was traveling to San Jose. And was able to train when I was on vacay. Will always come back to this gym every time I'm in town
