I visited the store tonight for a gait analysis to select a new pair of running shoes since I am training for the upcoming SF Marathon (my first). I'm honestly a little overwhelmed by the store because it's huge and I don't have a long history of athleticism, but Keith was the nicest person on the entire planet and made everything so digestible. From patiently taking in my gait, concerns, and goals to giving me advice on shoes, running fuel, and even the kindest motivating narrative about the final bit of the marathon. I just, oof. What an absolute gem of a person. I had to run off for a group practice run, but I am so so grateful to Keith for the help, advice, and motivation. He turned a very nerve-wracking experience into a fun and educational one. Thank you, Keith!! Looking forward to my Kayanos arriving :)

Brett the ski tech was EXTREMELY kind and helpful. We came over after the staff at Helm was uninterested in helping me out and were very impressed by his expertise. Highly recommend!

I love that Spirts Basement gives a discount to Girls on the Run organization. It started today & goes till March 24. All I had to do is show the flyer. I also have the membership and get 10% off. I asked a man, Keith, if he could help me with shoes. He was very helpful and very knowledgeable. I asked if they gave Nikes, but they no longer carry them, due to Nike. I asked for new running shoes and showed him the kind I was wearing. He didn't have my size, but said he could order it. I asked for the next 1/2 size up and it turns out, that size actually worked. I was very happy with his service and with the comfort of the shoe. He said he'd help any GOTR girl for that first running shoe. He also showed me the ultra light Feetures socks and said they are thin, but support your arches. That's my favorite sock! I really felt seen and heard. I recommend you ask for Keith if you need shoes.

I was looking at the basketballs to buy a couple. I saw one in a basket and started bouncing it "bounced it no more than 4 times "and an employee asked me if it was my ball and that if it's not to give it back to him because it won't sell if I bounce it. Not in a nice way. After he did that I left and I can see the guy and his coworkers laughing at us.

Came here to rent skis, boots, poles with no reservation on Presidents' Day weekend in the late afternoon which apparently is one of the busiest seasons. I was surprised with how quickly we were in and out not to mention how much more affordable this was in comparison to even the cheapest of ski resorts. Staff was quick, helpful and friendly

Super friendly staff and love the spacious layout! I still give it 5 stars for the service and friendliness even though they open quite late and parking can be difficult.

Long overdue review here. We have been getting sports gear here (ski, tennis, swim, cycling, etc) for years and are always pleased with the experience. I recently got a high-end mountain bike here and was impressed by the excellent service and communication throughout the whole experience. The bike was shipped from the Santa Rosa store to the Campbell store, where it was set up and eventually picked up by me. Thanks to Mike and Joseph in the bicycle department, who were both super helpful! This store has a good selection and is competitively priced. Worth checking out

If I can, I much prefer trying on things in person before I buy them. Sports Basement has all shoes in various sizes on the store floor so you don't have to wait for staff to help you and you can take as much time as you want without pressure. There's a good selection of many items too.

I am looking to get a pair of ski boots and skis. I have never skied before. I started by going to Helm in San José and trying the used ski boots. When I was there the sales person instructed me and my family to measure our foot and then go one size larger. I measured my foot at 28.5 so I started looking at 29. I tried multiple pairs of 29 and my toes touch the end of the boot. So I tried 30s and could not find a good fit. I then went to REI and had a sales associate fit me. She started by measuring my feet. She measured both feet and measured the length, width and one more measurement which I believe was the widest part of the foot. She started me out in 28.5 size and I told her that my big toe was up against the end of the boot. She said that I did not want that and moved me up to a size 29. I told her I could tell my big toe was not touching the end but was right there so she suggested I move up to a 30.5. Unfortunately REI did not have any boots in 30.5 for me to try so she suggested I go to your store in the Pruneyard in San Jose. She explained what boots she thought would be good for me. SO I went to your store and I explained everything to your sales associate. They did not have the boots I was looking for based on the advice I got at REI. Your sales associates basically rolled their eyes in disgust and the mention of the name REI (extremely unprofessional). They did not have boots so they offered to do a sizing. I agreed. Your sales associate measured just the length of one foot, just one foot and said I should be in a 28.5. I tried to explain what REI said and he told me they were wrong. So he brought me three different shoes in 28.5 put them next to me and walked away. I tried on the first pair and my big toe was in pain because it was right at the end of the boot. Then another lady walked by who was cleaning up boxes and my wife asked if she could help. She said yes and I explained the situation to her. She literally put her hands in a praying motion and closed her eyes and the mention of REI and told me not to listen to REI because they did not know what they were talking about and were trying to put me in a boot that was far too large for me. Then I explained to her that my toe hurt in the 28.5 and she asked if I had tried the other pairs and I said no but I had tried several 28.5 at the other stores and had the same results. She said that I needed to try the others because not all the toe boxes (not sure of that the right term) would be the same. When I expressed my doubt again because I have tried multiple 28.5 with the same result she asked me if I wanted her to bring a bigger size. I made a comment along the line of "I think it's either that or I break my big toe" which I admit was not the best response. (sorry I am a sarcastic person by nature). She then basically said I had to try the other boots. I got up to leave and she was like "that's fine let us know if there is anything else we can do for you" . I then came back and again tried to explain to her that my toe was in pain and I did not think that was right and she still refused to do anything but tell me to try on the other 28.5 boots. At this point my wife went over to the first sales associate, the one that measured my foot and brought the boots out and asked if he could help us. The lady turned to him and yelled "No you can't" Then addressing me and my family still yelling "We are not going to help you, you need to leave the store now". I asked if I could speak to the manager and she told me she was the manager. I asked if she was the manager of the whole store and she said yes to the whole store. I tried to ask why, all I was trying to do was get some ski boots and she said still yelling" You need to leave now. We will not help you" (or something along those line. She told me if I wanted a fitting and I wanted to talk to her she would help but otherwise we had to leave. So I said ok I want a fitting and will talk and she said, still yelling, no you don't you're just dema

I came here with one intention, and one intention only - to get the best shoes to support my busy lifestyle. I was recommended to come here and wondered if it was too good to be true - it wasn't. Rudy introduced himself to us and was happy to help me find the best shoes for my feet. I walked for him to demonstrate the stress my feet undergo, and he immediately knew what I had needed. I always thought my feet pronated but they're more flat and neutral - who knew! I was so happy to have some clues and Rudy recommended me a couple of brands that fit like a dream and felt like I was walking on a cloud. I normally don't wear shock absorbent shoes and it feels like every weight and stress I put on my feet hurts after a long day. It feels decent during the activities like walking or running, but I feel the pain and exhaustion. This was going on for some time! I needed shoes that would absorb the shock and weight, along with being comfortable enough to wear for hours on end. I ended up getting a couple pairs of shoes - one was Hoka and the other I forgot the name of. The Hoka shoes were available to me immediately, which helped save my feet! Perfect size and color. But the other shoes were out of stock so I had them shipped to my house. Overall, they had such a good deal on the shoes, and the service was awesome! Rudy knew so much about the different brands and could tell me what made each special and he didn't try to sell me something that wasn't a good fit either. Every shoe he brought to me was closer and closer to my perfect match - which was narrowed down to two shoes. Getting a couple pairs of shoes that support your feet best is an investment I'd recommend to anyone! Sports Basement gets you the right shoes at a great price, with experts like Rudy helping you every STEP of the way.

Went in to find and get fitted for new snowboarding boots. Cameron helped me and was very knowledgeable about the different boot options. We finally found the perfect pair and he even went the extra mile to get them heat molded for me before leaving the store. Top notch service from Cameron and the store. Even got to use a killer 20% off coupon that saved me a bunch. 5 stars as always team!
