Geek Squad was an absolute waste of time and money. After my water-damaged MacBook was assessed at Apple (who told me it could boot into target disk mode for data transfer), I went to Geek Squad after I was told over the phone that I could pick up a new MacBook and they would assist me with the data transfer. Instead, the employee ignored everything I explained, dismissed the clear solution I provided (even while I showed him Apple’s instructions that I Googled in less than 5 seconds), and kept trying pointless power cycles. He told me data recovery wasn’t possible (categorically false) and suggested I leave both laptops with them for four days with no guarantee.
I went back to Apple the next day, where they solved the issue in under two hours FOR FREE. Geek Squad, despite my dad paying $179/year for their service, couldn’t be bothered to try. The attached pictures demonstrate that the data transfer IS possible, either Geek Squad didn't know or straight up didn't care. That's not what someone pays $179/year for. They were dismissive, unhelpful, and showed zero effort. Save your time and money, go literally anywhere else.

I went to geek squad to tradeoff my working laptop and they sent to customer service. Online estimate quote say $70 but customer service said $0 for tradeoff. When I asked they simply said old model. I said I don't want and by the time geek squad erased my OS. I enquired I want my laptop in the original condition and they said if you say tradeoff means it's outs. It took a lot of time to convince them to install the OS. After I said a keyword member for 7 years they agreed to install without charges.
Looks like customer service needs a lot of knowledge and geek squad team should know about customer before erasing all data.
Overall both customer service and geek squad not a good experience

I had an iPad that I couldn’t unlock because of my siblings. Trevor was there and helped me a lot. Thank you Trevor! It only took 5 minutes max.

Geek Squad tries to sell you things you don’t need by providing unrealistic return dates to encourage you to buy from the store. I purchased an “on sale”laptop. It was out of stock, so I waited for it to be shipped, and was told my data would be transferred the day the new laptop arrived. Then, when it arrived was told it would take 3 more business days. The Associate and Store Manager didn’t care that this affected my livelihood, and made no effort to help. They were rigid and condescending!

I bought a 3K Magnolia Sony TV from Best Buy and after 14 month (2 months past warranty) the TV was not turning on. Called Sony service and they referred me to Best Buy and they connected me to Geek squad, after 3 weeks two technicians showed up and they did almost nothing just to convince me to go and buy a new TV.They did not touch my TV and no diagnostic action to find the problem, just verbally told me that the problem might be this and that and it takes a while to order the spare parts and even it might not work and even if it works it might not last long. There whole system is not to do any repair just to encourage you buy them a new TV and pay extras for extended warranty that is so expensive and doesn’t make sense at all.I don’t recommend Best Buy to anyone and after being their customer for 10 years I am going to leave their eco system for ever.

Don't use the Geek Squad for anything! I called them when I got locked out of my computer and they wiped all my data when they did something that they explicitly said wouldn't wipe the data

Have been using best buy to order my tech stuff since the time i moved into United States in 2017. Always used to buy products and try to install them myselfRecently i purchased their service plan as it made sense theoreticallyPractically it’s horrible, originally they promised me they would service all products that i own regardless of where I’ve bought them fromOnce purchased it was difficult to get a hold of folks and get an appointment and then technicians would call and find ways to cancel the appointment (saying they can’t do anything)Even if they would show up they won’t do much just see everything on surface level and inform the same thing that we can’t do anything it’s easier to buy a new productWhich i eventually paid to someone locally and got it fixed for cheaper than the whole membership costDefinitely not worth someone who knows enough technically to get by the day

I've been using the Geek Squad for years. They have always helped me immensely from new TV setup to new computer installation

Went for a battery for my iPhone. Guy fumbled looking at my phone for 15 minutes, didn't seem to know what to do. Apparently "ran diagnostic" and proceeded to recommend a new phone cuz my screen was bound to go and other things could also go wrong In the next six months. Didn't ask for an opinion, wanted a battery. There's nothing wrong with my phone, it had just been diagnosed. Waste of my time, I'll never buy a phone from Best Buy now.

I have been a victim of geek squad AIG. They are a fraudulent company. They lie and steal your money. I will steer everyone I know away from these companies. They do not honor their 5 year warranty on appliances. They be hung up on me, they've changed what they've said. Dishonest company. I hope they bankrupt.

The GEEK squad annual fee was charged to the wrong account. This was important as I am unemployed and every $$ counts. I called the 800 number and the Representative Jacob said yes he could change the account to charge today and use the card I gave him. Now 5 days later the charge has not been credited on the wrong account. I have a confirm number as well. Called today and was told that the new CC number is on file, but the rep did not credit my account. He could not do that.. but that is not what he told me. Ok. But as a training opportunity - the manager does not take customer calls, and the manager does not have a manager. WHAT? So then I cancelled my Geek Squad membership but they could not CR the account it was charged on.. but the new CC on file. That does not make sense. Me having a CR on a CC does me no good. This will have be seen. I cannot believe what the reps say. CANCELLED. Watch out for what they tell you, perhaps if English was the 1st language they would be able to answer questions TRUTHFULLY instead of anything to get the customer off the phone. Not a truthful company. No more business from me.

Very bad customer service. On call customer service says go to store, store says to call customer service. When you get a replacement they have the policy that u can replace the replacement device in 30 days if it does not work properly. I was on a vacation nd phone started acting up. When we came back it was 28th day (including the days it took to ship). They asked me at store they cant to anything, keep clicking on a link which was down for 5 days. The person at the store assured me that if the link doesnt work they will honor that i came before the 30 day period. I kept trying and it dint work. I went back to the store and they said why did u come on the 28th day. If there is a problem with the phone you should have come earlier, why did you wait till 28 days. Then they shud not have a 30 day policy. We have had asurian insurance for all the phones we purchased. We had to use it once and it was a breeze to talk to them. Never getting geek squad insurance again

My husband and I went to Best Buy Dublin to buy a smart watch and wireless bose earbuds. We had the misfortune of having to deal with someone named Andreas from Geek squad in Dublin best buy. This person was very rude and inconsiderate with his whole demeanor. He got impatient and very rude when we turned down their geek squad protection and he started rolling his eyes and making faces like a drama queen, abruptly stopped responding to questions after his ''my bad'' for giving wrong info. If you don't have the patience to deal with people, you should not be in the business of having to do anything with people, you certainly should not be ringing products up for them. Take a crash course on social communication, atleast pretend to care about your Job. Horrible experience.
