“Needed mattress encasements ASAP due to buying new mattresses because of bed bugs in kids bunk bed. There were only 2 of this product left. One in Greenbrae and one in sf. The guy in the San Rafael location located which two stores had the last two encasements! Everyone at all stores were very friendly and empathetic and they solved my problem!”

The piece is gorgeous, but it’s their service and care that really stood out. Highly recommend!”

“This is a good place to go for slightly nicked and steeply discounted outdoor furniture. It's still expensive, but condierably less than the exorbitant prices at the non outlet stores. The real reason for this 5 star review is the service. My wife and I went shopping for chairs and a sofa and were greatly assisted my Matthew Wright. If only customer service were like this in every store! Matt was so helpful, asking really important questions about what was important to us, and giving us lots of little tips on how to think about the benefits and drawbacks of the various models on display. We're very grateful to Matt for being so good at his job.”

“I have bought a number of Sobu pieces over the years (couch, side table, pendant light, and most recently dining chairs) and adore all of them! While the staff have always been very helpful, I live a little further away now so tend to just order online because I know which pieces I want and their delivery has been speedy and fantastic. Their pieces are incredibly well-made and beautiful and are quietly rugged enough for daily use without showing barely any wear, and strike the balance I love between modern and nostalgic. It's amazing to find a local store that's my go-to for nearly all furniture and homeware I'm looking for, with the added bonus of avoiding big box retailers!”

“Moved into a new home and needed to start from scratch. Joey helped us out over multiple visits and was both professional and friendly. He is in tune with latest trends and tastes so he can definitely guide you if you’re not sure what you’re looking for. He was patient and thorough in showing options that fit to your needs such as your room size, tv size, viewing distance, household size, etc. He does push you to put a deposit down but I understand that’s the nature of his job in sales.
I bought multiple big items: sofa, tv stand, dining table & chairs, and a dresser. They aren’t the highest quality items but for the price, I am satisfied with them. Beats out a lot of direct to consumer brands in terms of value. Not the most stylish but functional and comfortable.
The delivery was a great experience as well. The crew was careful with both the furniture and my home/ hardwood floors. They took off their shoes without asking and used a thick blanket of sorts for protection.”

“Definitely one of the most beautiful stores in Rockridge/Oakland! It is filled with beautiful japanese ceramics, plates, daruma dolls, incenses, lamps and more. I keep going back to get daruma dolls. If you're interested in japanese culture and furniture, this store is a must! It also sells larger furniture especially beds and futons, but also some chairs, tables etc.
The owner is also very kind and always ready to help. One of my favorite stores I've been to here.”
“I bought a couch at Alpha Design after falling in love with my friend's couch, also from Alpha Design. We had been looking for a new couch for at least a couple of years, and never found anything we really liked. Hans was able to customize so many aspects of our couch that were not possible to customize with other companies.
Our new L-shaped sofa is super comfortable, fits perfectly in our home, and arrived in less than the 2 week estimated wait (despite the Thanksgiving holiday). Thank you, Hans!”

I was there for a long time and he was attentive for the entire time I was there. I bought a chair but ended up returning it within a few hours for my own reasons. John must have not been thrilled to hear this but he handled it well and was still very friendly. Would recommend anyone considering an ergonomic chair.”
