“If you're looking for very traditional Brazilian items this place has it all! Prices are very fair and variety of items is exceptional! This is by far the best place to get all the items from back home! Staff is friendly as well!”

“My mom is doing home dialysis and this store sells a medical tape I use for her exit site. It's the only non medical store I've found which sells it. I like it because it's easy to tear and doesn't stick to my fingers so much. It's also very inexpensive.”

“One of the coolest grocery stores I've ever been to! There is truly something for everyone here from the vast selection of colorful produce to artisan bread to locally prepared foods. While some items are a bit pricey, you can definitely shop here on a budget if you know what to pick. Additionally, the store is both vegan/vegetarian friendly and I think has a great policy on waste. Many items like cashews are kept in bulk to reduce on plastic. If you like fresh food or simply a solid unique grocery store, the Berkeley Bowl is the way to go!”

“This is a pretty amazing grocery store if you're looking for produce. It's basically a farmer's market indoors. Best mushroom selection I've seen anywhere. Prices are high, but you get what you pay for. Convenient parking in a very congested little parking lot.”

“Come here as an alternative to Berkeley Bowl, produce section and deli are some of my favorites here. Which are better priced than Safeway on the street. Most other items are marked up too high for me. But $7.99 for a simply yet filling sandwich? Come here for the produce but hit up the deli”

“We go to Nick's 2-3 month to pick up basic household items or for our It's It fix. When we are in the mood to bake, Nick's has a small but impressive baking section including Guittard baking chocolate and various flour options. For celebrations or just making it through the week, there's a good selection of wine and spirits. I needed a cauliflower for a soup but they ran out and the very next time Charlie saw me, he told me they had a recent delivery. Charlie and Louie are such nice and helpful guys.”

“I had a lunch with my kid on Friday, the guy behind the register was amazing, great attitude and super service however, the chicken came uncooked, again the cashier took it back to finish cooking it. How do you hire a cheff that does not know when the meet is or is not cooked?”

“Tofu and bean sprouts are some of my food staples, which I normally buy at Bay Area supermarkets. There are several brands in the market, but I prefer Wo Chong, which is a brand I grew up with as it was the brand my parents used. Wo Chong is fourth generation San Francisco business since 1935 that produces tofu and bean sprouts, soy bean sprouts, clover sprouts and onion sprouts. It's one of several Chinatown institutions still in operation. The store is very basic with displays of fruits and produce. On the left case are the fresh bean sprouts that you can buy pre-bagged or loose at $.85/lb and the packages of tofu in silken, soft and firm textures at $1.25. At the counter, there are two types of tofu you can buy by the piece at $1.50 and $.25 each. They also sell fresh soy milk and noodles too. I will now be stopping at Wo Chong when I'm in Chinatown to get my tofu and bean sprouts. Can't get any better than getting it from the source and at lower prices than the store and markets than sells them.”

“With the number of grocery shopping options on Stockton Street, it's easy to overlook this 3-in-1market. Given the store size, you won't find a comprehensive variety of produce or products. It's a backup shopping spot for me when I'm unable to find vegetables or cooking ingredients either at that SoCal based chain supermarket or other neighboring stores. They have fish tanks in the rear area behind the cashier counter and back right corner while the meat section is along the right wall towards the front as you walk in. In the center area, you'll find open freezer bins with various seafood like abalone, oysters, mussels, scallops, and sea cucumber as well as packed fish balls and other processed seafood products. I've come here a couple times when my normal shopping spot didn't have okra. I come here normally when I can't find okra. I can't vouch for their meats and seafood price and quality wise as I have not bought from those sections. Good backup spot for me.”

“I wanted a simple breakfast back in my hotel room and this place was perfect. They have fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs and oatmeal packets. The couple behind the counter was super helpful!”

“24+ eggs for $10?! Inflation proof! Buy everything here for your daily cooking needs, very friendly staff. It does get very crowded so if you mind a little shoulder-to-shoulder bustle then have someone else grab your goodies because you’re going to want to give this spot a gander.”

“My love for Mi Carnal runs so, so deep. Where else can you get large avocados for 3 for $1 or two honeydews for $1? Or in the summer, 20 limes for $1? Or 2 lbs of navel oranges for $1? I mean the specials here are actually crazy. I regularly walk out of here with 20lb of groceries for around 10 bucks. Yes, the groceries outside are definitely some type of salvage and should be carefully chosen and then eaten IMMEDIATELY (or as soon as you can manage). Sure, everything else in the market is priced pretty normally. But seriously, how did this neighborhood get so lucky? This is THE spot for very ripe groceries at an incredible price.”

“My friend is constantly looking for some Eastern European food. She also lives in MN and has been craving to get back to this place which we went to yesterday. My god, the potato pie here made by someone that works here is just astounding. You can get in the market in the frozen food section. We had some beef sausages and found some plum wine that looks amazing although she said it might taste a bit like ether. She's going to share some with her brothers when she sees them in a couple of days. I'll be back when out of town friends come to visit to spoil them with homemade treats.”

“Very friendly staff and surprisingly large selection. Yes, the price is high, but it's a family shop in one of the most expensive locations in the world. The prices aren't much worse than Safeway, and you're supporting a loved institution. Great spot to restock on bits and bobs you might need for dinner.”

“not bad.issues are: parking is tight.they can be behind pending man power.once in door.....30 mins or so to load.follow road signs.don't not drive into residential area due north.enter from the south end of that whole block.”

“I love this place! The guy working the counter is always friendly, they have surprisingly good selection (esp if you’re interested in meats), and other shoppers are friendly.”

“I love this little market. It has everything you would expect at a convenience store plus a lot more, including produce. I typically stop here for snacks, wine, or just for something I forgot to grab at the supermarket. One of the things I like best about this place is the extensive wine and beer selection as well as the fact that every single wine bottle has a price sticker on the top of it so I'm never wondering.”
