There's always a wait to get into these little Italian cafés, created by the Alfano family from New Jersey. The popularity of this small chain can be attributed to two things: attractive prices and down-home Italian food. The massive menu is highlighted by chicken Maria --- a chicken breast sautéed with mushrooms, bell peppers, wine and garlic butter sauce; spicy shrimp and roasted corn risotto with red chili flakes, sun-dried tomatoes and cream; and hearty baked pasta dishes like bubbly lasagna and eggplant-topped mostaccioli with ricotta and marinara. There are even respectable pizzas, calzones and hot or cold hero sandwiches, plus a serviceable wine list.
