“Great place to shop. The yard personal are super helpful and give you plenty of time to pick out the material that best fits you needs. No climbing up or into racks to sort through the lumber.
Always make you feel welcome.”

“This is one of the larger Ace hardwares . Hassett stores also seem to carry more of a selection of products. They had everything I was looking for and you can actually find help from employees that know their store. So much better than that orange box place. If they had cheaper prices and carried lumber they would put all other hardware stores out of business.”

“Very cool spot to stop in for some live music, a cold beer, and a tasty snack. The store has some interesting items and good prices. Awesome little homemade bakery too!”

“If you have no other reason to go- this *feels* like a hardware store. I know when I say this I am speaking to a very specific subset of people. However, when I was a kid, my dad would take me with him to the hardware store, and I would get a lollypop while he and whomever from behind the counter would wander around looking for an eyebolt or the right shade of caulk. Giulio- who I assume is the owner, is easily 10 years older than my mom, who lives in the assisted living up the street. My mom can't be bothered to go to the chair yoga we're paying for, but Giulio went to work. He's not totally mobile, but he knows his s#!t. Whenever I come in, he or whoever else is behind the counter is happy to chat through my issue and suggest something. It's not a Home Depot- so they may not have what you're looking for every time- but they have a lot of things, and it makes me happy to know my money is staying local. Also, side story: One day during the summer, it's like 90, and I am behind a contractor who's getting a bunch of stuff - lumber, rocks...I don't know- but he's paying for it, and he grabs some water bottles for him and his crew and puts them on the counter. Giulio totals him up and says a number; the guy says, "Oh, don't forget these waters". Giulio says, "The town where I come from in Italy has the best water in the world, and it flows right off the mountain. If my father knew I was charging people for water, he'd come back from the dead and strike me down. Those are free." C'mon. How can you not go here first?”

“Great store, spacious and clean. But their bathrooms are SO dirty. The sinks and even the door to the men’s room are so grimy I didn’t want to touch anything. It’s always like this.”

“Great local hardware shop with friendly and helpful staff. They have nearly anything you'd need from a hardware store so you can support these locally run shops instead of Home Depot or Lowe's.

I recently bought some light chain to make a clothes line with in the garage and it worked like a charm (use hangers instead of clothes pins).”

“Friendliest paint store on the Peninsula!! Been coming here for years! In addition to providing beautiful, quality paint, they also help you recycle old paint too!!!”

“I had a plumbing emergency on Friday with my daughter and family staying for the weekend. I was lucky to get a plumber in a few hours to stop a leaking shower valve for the hot water faucet. It was installed in 1991. BUT to repair/replace the two faucets with a single unit will be $2200. So I went to Cal-Steam Burlingame with the necessary info. It turns out I only need to change out the valve stem for $50. But what is so impressive is that John and Nick went above and beyond to help me. They spent time on the computer locating the part, double checked, conferred and then showed me the part. During the whole process they would apologize for taking so much time. I was so thankful that I could go to a plumbing supply warehouse and stand in line with working plumbers and be treated so respectfully. Senior citizens take note of this! I just turned 80. John and Nick you are great! Thanks for making it easy.”

“I am a semi-retired decorator. I had a client that needed some rods and had no way of finding displays. Something she could touch and see up close. Since we don't have anything in our area I found Davis Hardware. The people are great and the displays are perfect. You can check size and color, which as you know is very important for the client. They are wholesale, but if you need to see something get with your decorator and go see what they have. Its worth the drive.”

“Needed a sheet of plastic to protect some things in our kitchen. The cashier/manager was really helpful in getting me to understand our options and I am confident that we got the right thing for our application. the sheet was cut very professionally and will look good. And the prices were very reasonable.”

“Good for quick stop for household needs. They have everything that a hardware store should carry. I stopped by to buy some sand paper to refurbish a lovely wooden table. Finding the right one was bit of a hassle but the store attendants were helpful enough.”
