“Nice, clean supermarket in Hollister. All the staff is nice, always ready with a little friendly chat at the checkout counter. The selection of stock for relatively high-end items is a little sparse but that is to be expected in a small town. The bakery produces some excellent loaves of artisan bread and the meat section always has some good cuts on hand.”

“Very nice roadside stop location along the 152/Pacheco Pass Hwy. We only needed to use the restrooms, which were clean and well stocked. There's an adjoining parkette with trains and animals which is very cool for the kiddies. The store has a large selection of fruits and produce, nuts, and all kinds of other things. There's also the Casa de Restaurant if you want a full meal. Definitely worth the stop if you're travelling through the area.”

“The place to get great bargains on groceries! This is our go-to spot! Fun new items every time! They carry a lot of discontinue or closeout items among other regular grocery staples. Prices are reasonable! Same loaf of sourdough bread is twice the price across the road at the regular grocery store!”

“My wife always ask me to try the sushi ? from Safeway, I say no way . Then one day I did and it was grate. The only thing not a fan of is the spicy mayo . I love heat but not with mayo . I do recommend the sushi ? it’s a 7 out of 10 .”

“It's the one and only Safeway here in Hollister. Place is super clean and have good employees with good customer service. They have a gas station but right now it is down. Not sure why but it is.”

“As Hollister is growing in population I find many store shelves empty. I couldn't find my favorite over the counter cough syrup and I found it at The Dollar General at a lower price than the other stores in town. I also stocked up on facial tissues for myself and family dealing with first cold of the season. Great prices and it was a little busy with a line going up the aisle to get to the register. Worth the wait to save money on my cold season purchases. You can still find Top Ramen 5 in a package soups, but now are $1.25 instead of a dollar. Still cheaper than other stores. Go check it out yourself. They carry all sorts of food and drink items. Also, household items plus cleaning products.”

“Had an amazing experience with a meat department worker Moses Sanchez. He was so kind to me and patient and helped me look for exactly what I needed. Quite handsome as well. Thank you to him!”

“Exciting things are happening downtown. In my 2 journeys throughout the store, I encountered huitlacoche, some dried whole shrimp at the deli meat counter, conche breads, guacamole making tools... Love the array of different meats like chorizo/offals. Saw aloe drinks/bebidas at the back of the store, my favorite mango yogurt drink, incredible spices, fresh produce, many sale prices ?

Edit:
Yesterday, I visited because I really love their spice section and produce aisle.

I went to the cashier and paid for my stuff in coins and counted them out -- I was pretty sure I counted accurately, but maybe I counted wrong, the cashier said, "You missed a dollar," so I gave them a dollar and then they gave me a quarter in return. (The cashier there was also weirdly performative with the way she/they handled the receipt with the previous customer.) I didn't really say anything at the time because I didn't want to make a fuss, because I've known a lot of customer service people who build resentment against customers who are actually being reasonable, and also, in a holistic sense, I knew if I just gave up the dollar and didn't argue with the cashier, more money would come my way. It was weird, and I think they were power-tripping -- I used to be a cashier and I would never talk to a customer like that or handle change in such a manner. If I were a customer, I'd recommend just going to the self-serve stations.

The overall ambiance of the store is nice and clean, however, with authentic options, and I saw a low-carb tortilla option. I'd probably at that rate just eat meat and not get a low-carb tortilla option, but the option is there for anyone who wants it.

They also have a taqueria inside the market, with fresh in-house made food!”

“My family always goes here when it comes to the meat. Super friendly and the whole staff/team are very down to earth and very helpful for any questions. My mom always goes here and swears by the butcher. He is very accommodating when it comes to cutting the meat for her. Support small businesses if you're in the hollister area!”

“love this store everything is always fresh only gripe I have is the fact that they don't have enough cashiers and on busy days the line builds up other than that great store”

“I absolutely love this little place. It's usually the highlight of our 6.5 hour roadtrip that we take every so often.

Everytime we travel to San Francisco from Los Angeles and vice versa, we always stop here so that I can stock up on all of the local made goodies such as the caramel apples (my favorite), taffys, homemade rice crispy treats, dried fruits, and more. You can't get them anywhere else. You may think it's just a Chevron, but it's a hidden gem for many things in my book. We joke that when the last caramel apple is eaten, and the last piece of taffy is chewed, it's time for another road trip to San Francisco. I 100% recommend this little chevron outside of Hollister.

We discovered this place on accident in 2023, and we are glad we did. Still stopping by in 2025! and will be stopping here until time no longer permits.

Lastly, it's not just the most delicious caramel apples ever, but some are coated in chocolate, oreo, pie, and I even saw a reeces pieces coated apple (there was one left and you know I got it), and more. You just have to stop by for these products that you won't find anywhere else.

Place is always super clean and the cashiers are always extremely friendly.”
