“Ace is the place with helpful hardware folks! But seriously though, this store always has a variety of employees with knowledge to help you find what you need and have practical advice to stop you from buying what you don’t.
The store has everything you could possibly ever need in and outside of the house. You’ll find every tool and supply to complete those DIY projects and home maintenance. You can also pick up a new grill and replace your string of lights for the holidays.
It’s also right next to the garden center which has a fantastic selection year round and has equally amazing employees. Super helpful!

“Great selection on tools, light bulbs painting supplies etc. Their garden center is lovely. I love that all the staff is ready to help with very sweet advice. The parking is convenient. I wish it was open later at least once a week. They have a very nice selection of gifts and homegoods too. Locally this is a gem to have. They carry galison puzzles and jellycat puzzles which are both favorite gifts to give. During a renovation we frequented this store quite a bit and they always had what we needed.”

“I recently moved from Brentwood, CA to Walnut Creek, CA where I live much closer to the ACE Hardware store. I find the ACE prices are more expensive than, say, Home Depot. But the knowledge and assistance I get at ACE far, far outweighs the extra cost. I always found that I knew more about what I was looking to purchase at Home Depot than ANY of the people working at any Home Depot I have ever been to.”
“My boyfriend and I stop by here at least a couple times a month because it's close to his place, we both like supporting local businesses, and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. When it came time to upgrade his grill, my boyfriend wanted to patronize the Moraga Ace. He had spent a couple of weeks researching grills, and we went to several stores to look at their inventory. In the end, the grill we chose was not in stock at Moraga Ace, so the owner, Bill, worked with us directly to order the grill. He and his staff assembled and delivered the grill, then Bill gave us several tips on where to put the grill in the backyard and made sure that we were both comfortable connecting and disconnecting the propane tank, turning the propane on, and lighting the various burners. Then he gave us a few tips about how to grill different types of meats and veggies! He even threw in a complimentary long-handled grill brush. Later that weekend, we dropped in for some non-grill-related items and Bill made sure to greet us and ask how the new grill was working out for us. :)”

“I love J&M. They have every fastener you could ever need, and they are incredibly helpful. They were a key partner during our build out of a tiny house on wheels -- something I had never done before. There were dozens of times when we had no clue what bolt or screw was needed for the stage we were at. But Justin and the crew always helped me find just the right thing -- even when I didn't know what it was called! They have a great inventory, and I love that they also carry premium drill bits and Diablo saw blades. If you need any sort of fastener, I'd go here before ever heading to a general hardware store. Below are some pictures of the tiny house on wheels that we built with 30 female high school students. J&M's fasteners were used in EVERY piece of the construction, and we're so thankful to have them as a partner.”
“I made 3 keys at Home Depot, but don’t work. Cole hardware stuff found it issue, and made a key works.The original key is little bent , they can help made a copy key even the original is bent !”
“Last week, I purchased a pizza slicer from another store, but it broke when I attempted to use it. I came to Laurel Ace to get a replacement because I know that its products are sturdy.
Marcos, the associate who assisted me, not only directed me to the proper aisle, but, to my surprise and gratification, TESTED the slicer to make sure that it would hold up! As if this wasn't enough, I also told me that I could bring it back if I had any problems.
I ALWAYS get great service at my neighborhood Ace, but young Marcos is among the BEST associates who I've ever been blessed to deal with. You can NEVER lose by going to Laurel Ace, particularly if he assists you.”

“This is the go to place for repair of landscaping and garden equipment. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. I have had my lawnmower repaired here. The staff gave me tips on how to maintain my lawnmower better so that it lasts much longer. I also went back and one of the staff showed me how to load and rethread my weed whacker's string. This was very helpful. I am very happy with my repair experiences there. They also have high quality equipment for sale.”

“It's a large hardware do it yourself store. Probably the easiest is to order online and pick up at the store. Or to look up the item ahead of time and write down the isle and the bay the item is otherwise you'll spend the time ready each isles contents if you don't come here a lot. Those are my helpful tips.”
“I would go 5 stars but not until the get rid of the 2 maybe 3 young people at the front desk. They are super rude and seem to have the stereotypical entitled young person syndrome. Watching what seemed like social media videos and not wanting to be bothered by annoying customers.. They were very short with us when they did interact, stimulated by us the customer, and once we were in there obviously looking at handles and could have used some help they didn't engage at all.. Sure we could have asked for help, but this was after we had learned that these folks were only going to get annoyed if we did.. so we left.. We've also had these notably bad interactions with these people on the phone as well.. maybe they are the owners kids and that's why they act the way they do..
Liz is great, if you go there and Liz isn't there and your only option is one of these useless people then turn around and go somewhere else or come back when Liz is there..”

“This place is absolutely the best. I had never heard of Dunn Edwards before but am so glad I decided to stop in. Lex is so nice, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and just simply amazing. The rest of the staff is also very nice and welcoming every time I stop by. I had been to other paint stores before I decided to purchase from here but the experience was not even close. I mean they were polite and all but not as thorough. Lex asked great questions and made me think about things I would’ve never thought about which helped me make good decisions when picking out colors, quality, etc. I am planning on painting my whole house, inside and out, and will continue to purchase from here thanks to Lex. (PS I am not a reviewer as it is too time consuming in my opinion but Lex and Dunn Edwards PH deserve this one.)”
“As a plumbers wife, we have been longtime customers here. The plumbing part selection is wide and vast. The selection of Kohler is outstanding.
My favorite part of the store however is the customer service. There are not many places that greet you by name these days. All are willing to assist you w/whatever you need. Let's not forget the FREE popcorn. Popped fresh everyday. (While supplies last)
