Each item they sell is hand selected with the utmost quality and care in-mind. I had one of the best customer service experiences here—hands down. The owner’s knowledge base, attention to detail, and desire to go above & beyond (e.g., sending me home with free dog food samples to test out) was unparalleled. His passion for connecting the community through a robust event schedule (my personal favorite being the ugly pet sweater contest) is such a meaningful value add. “I visited The Urban Pet while in Los Angeles, and it was a really pleasant stop. I was looking for a local pet store with quality supplies, and this place had a much better selection than many larger chain stores. It felt like a neighborhood shop that focuses on carefully chosen products rather than simply filling shelves.
The first thing I noticed was how organized everything was. There were sections for food, toys, treats, grooming products, and accessories, and it was easy to browse without feeling crowded. The store carried items that looked thoughtfully selected, including some brands and products I don’t usually see in bigger pet retailers. That made it more interesting, especially if you’re shopping for something specific.
The staff were one of the best parts of the visit. They were friendly and genuinely knowledgeable. I had a few questions about treats and food options, and they took time to explain differences without making it feel like a sales pitch. That kind of help is valuable because pet products can vary a lot, and it’s nice when someone actually understands what they’re selling.
The shop itself was clean, bright, and welcoming. I saw several customers come in with their dogs, which added to the relaxed atmosphere. “I can't say enough positive things about Muttineer Dog Training! Thank you so much to Jocelyn for helping me train my very shy and sensitive puppy, Wren. Each week that we met with Jocelyn, we learned more- it really helped me feel like Wren and I were learning how to communicate. Jocelyn truly understands dogs, and it shows. “We brought our puppy to Zoom Room every week for months when we brought him home and looking back, it was the best thing we did for him now that he is fully grown. The puppy socialization gave him confidence around other dogs (we even made new friends) and the training has stuck with him (including training us how to train). We’re really like the trainers and class formats, and the store inside is fantastic. We tell everyone to check out Zoom Room!”
“Only Ana can cut my chaotic dachshunds nails. I love coming to self wash too always easy to use, with different shampoo options, towels and blow dryer. But do get the quarterly groom so The grooming packet stamp card is well worth the money.”

The customer service is always top notch. We’ve never had anything but a fantastic experience here. Depending on what and how much you buy, they have frequent buyer programs.
I gather from another review that some people think it’s fine to let your toddler run around a store and grab at living animals, but that’s just questionable parenting. I can totally understand how the staff would maybe be a bit frustrated by this parental oversight. It’s a business, not your play place.”
“I honestly cannot thank Esme enough. I had two surgeries and for about two months I physically couldn’t move or lift, so my dog’s grooming unfortunately fell behind. I felt terrible bringing her in like that, but Esme handled everything with so much compassion and zero judgment.
The transformation speaks for itself. My dog went from matted and uncomfortable to looking absolutely beautiful, clean, and happy again. You can tell Esme truly cares, not just about how the dogs look, but how they feel.
We bring both of our dogs to her, our 13-year-old and our 1-year-old, and she always knows exactly what each of them needs. She adjusts her approach, takes her time, and treats them like her own. That level of attention and understanding is rare.
Esme is not just talented, she is kind, patient, and genuinely compassionate. I truly couldn’t ask for a better or more caring person to trust with my dogs. If you’re looking for someone who will go above and beyond, this is it.”

“Highly recommend. Took our cat, Mr Pumpkin, there for a grooming first time. The owner comes to every pets first appointment as an extra check on your pet to ensure things go well. I learned our cat was actually a short hair cat and grooming not recommended for now and to try a leave in conditioner which worked great. It saved money, got the job done and our cat is happy. It's hard to find businesses today that do the right thing over the quick sale, this one does.”

“I’ve been meaning to post a review for a while, and today’s exceptional grooming reminded me. My mini Aussie, Kiwi, and I have been customers for a little over a year now, and we’ve left happy every visit.
It’s nearly IMPOSSIBLE finding a groomer that specializes in longer and double coated dogs. Tons of very expensive Westside options that generally service doodles (shave, repeat, etc), but few that are absolute pros with scissors. Eduardo is a master! Listens to all your requests, and makes your dog feel at ease. I highly recommend booking with him if you have an Aussie, Golden Retriever, Border Collie, or any dog with delicate fur or coat.
Great staff, tons of parking, reasonable pricing, and an absolute gem, even if you’re a self-wash person.”
