“It turns out someone/somehow got a hold of my debit card and compromised my checking account. Ugh. Ironically, I discovered this while trying to pay for groceries at Trader Joe's. I kept swiping my card and it wouldn't go through. While I was scratching my head trying to figure out why payment wasn't going through, I received a text message from Bank of America. They were notifying me of suspicious transactions on my account, and they wanted to verify that I had actually made these purchases. And until they hear back from me, they're going to put a hold on the debit card. Long story, short... I called up BofA's customer service to get to the bottom of all this. We were able to weed out my actual transactions from the fraudulent ones. They immediately suspended my current card and put my new card in the mail (which should arrive in the next 2 business days). In the meantime, they directed me to my local Bank of America branch to secure a temporary debit card. And that's how I wound up at this Mill Valley BofA branch. Although I didn't make an appointment, a banker (Blesilda was her name) helped me right as I walked in. Within minutes I was out the door with a newly activated card, and now I'm able to spend money again. What a relief! Blesilda and BofA really came to the rescue and I'm truly appreciative for their service. And in case you were wondering (and I doubt you were), I was still able to buy my groceries at Trader Joe's (just with a different card). : )”
