DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Modesto is a large, pleasant hotel located in the city center, making it easy to walk to dinner and explore nearby attractions. The hotel features spacious, clean, and quiet rooms, with some guests enjoying the good smell and comfortable beds. The staff is generally friendly and attentive, with helpful reception and quick maintenance service when needed. Guests often appreciate the hotel’s modern upkeep and the availability of amenities like a bar, a restaurant, and a coffee machine in rooms. Upon check-in, guests are welcomed with the hotel's famous cookies, which children love. Valet service is friendly and convenient, adding to the overall positive experience.
However, some reviews highlight issues that detract from the stay. The hotel can feel busy and crowded, with difficulties related to parking and elevator functionality. Several guests report sub-par cleaning standards, such as dirty grout, dusty corners, and moldy window frames, indicating inconsistent maintenance. Noise from the nearby train horn can be disruptive, and some rooms have outdated or malfunctioning equipment like old TV systems and key cards that don’t always work reliably. Additional charges for parking and other services are a concern, especially when receipts are not provided and charges appear unexpectedly. Some guests experienced rude staff and poor customer service, with trouble resolving billing issues or extra charges.
Overall, DoubleTree Modesto offers a convenient, comfortable stay with helpful staff, but it falls short in cleanliness, maintenance, and customer service for some visitors. It is suitable for those needing a central location, but travelers seeking a more relaxing or upscale experience might find it lacking.
Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable We had a good night's sleep although the train was nearby. It was very faint. Our iron and ironing board were both broken. We called the front desk and they brought up a new one right away. All the staff were friendly and accommodating.

The pool is very long. Not very deep. The gym is nice.
