“Beautiful Venue! I attended a wedding here with my wife a couple weeks ago and the venue and grounds were amazing. You feel like you are in the middle of no where but are in the middle of a neighborhood. Lots of rules to follow but they staff makes up for it. The food was amazing, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the venue was stunning.”

“This place is fantastic! I had No idea something like this even existed. Once I found out I had to go. I’m so glad that I did. It was a blast. Not only can you throw axes. But you can also throw knives. At points I was throwing a knife with my right hand and an axe with my left. Or vice versa. Sometimes I threw with both arms at the same time. Look I’m no pro. This was my first time doing this. What’s great is that they also teach you how to throw the knives and axes. Plus they have great music and the staff is also great. Very helpful. If you’ve never done this before you have to at least try it. I told one of my friends and he literally said, “wait, what? WHERE? We’re going again soon.”

“Per the setup at the first event I'd attended there (Camp Kamala), venue had plenty of space for multiple tables, a stage at one end, buffet & drink station at the other end, and multiple accessible restrooms along one side. Venue is ADA accessible & is right near #12 AC Transit stops, Amtrak & a short walk to the Ferry at Jack London Square. It's a short bus ride to/from the 12th Street BART Station, and there's some street parking, as well as Parking Lots nearby. It's literally a block over from the Amtrak station. (I was tempted to take an Amtrak to the Richmond Station, even though it would cost more than taking a bus to BART, because I enjoy chilling on an Amtrak train. If a train already at the station hadn't been "last call" while I waited for the #12, I probably would've gotten a ticket for the next one, but I just wanted to get home & nap. heh heh)

During the event, I happened to sit in a seat smack dab below an air vent, so I was a bit cold the whole day. But if you know someone who always runs hot, maybe they would love to sit in that exact same spot. I'm sure the event space is also versatile enough to make sure tables aren't or are under an air vent, depending on your needs.

The outside is a bit industrial, but hip. This event space would definitely be great for office parties, launch events, etc.”

“My husband and I had our wedding at Ruth Bancroft and it was a wonderful experience. After we initially toured the venue, we both immediately agreed it was perfect for us. The plants are incredible! We worked with both Tawny and Mary during the planning process and both were incredibly sweet and helpful. Emails were answered quickly, and they made it easy for me to schedule walk-throughs and our rehearsal. I will miss talking to both of them! The costs and available rentals were listed out and there were no surprises. We had our ceremony in the Eucalyptus Grove in the evening and it was perfect, especially with the sun peeking through the trees and plants. Our dinner and dancing were also outside, which was a big part of why we picked this venue. Who doesn’t want to dine and dance in a desert plant garden?! Our guests keep talking about how beautiful the venue was and I couldn’t agree more. I highly recommend Ruth Bancroft for events!”

“Love coming here with the kids. Cheap on Wednesdays. Tons of memories and great games. A valuable part of the community. Since we live near there, we go there fairly often, and it has never disappointed us. Staff are friendly, and games change occasionally. Kids love it so much my oldest daughter took her friend there and she had a blast. Great for family.”

“My husband LOVES Pinot's Palette. If it's any consolation, he is the definition of a "manly man" and *loves* date night here.... So much so, that it's always his idea when we go! The art teachers have always been wonderful. My husband has ADHD, and he struggles to quickly follow and understand the artistic directions. He tends to need to stand up in the front and watch the teacher paint-- and ask a few questions in order to replicate. The teachers have always been very patient and kind and gently balance the class need and speed with what he needs as a more complicated student. Our art pieces have always come out well enough to hang on the wall. Overall, it's just a super fun date experience if your love language is quality time (like mine!).”

“Redwood Canyon venue was magical! The greenery was beautiful for our colorful wedding party!

Allison was our coordinator and she was AMAZING! She was so so so helpful in the weeks leading up to and especially on the day of our wedding! She was SO prepared with anything we needed in her fanny pack! Allison has such a calming presence and took care of everything.

Liv was our event captain and helped us close out the night, she was so helpful and took care of everything with packing decor so we didn't have to worry about a thing!

The food at Redwood Canyon was SO good!! Our guests were raving about how incredible the buffet and prime rib was!

It really was the best of day and night of our lives and we owe it all to the staff at Redwood, especially Allison and Liv! Thank you for everything!”

“Having our wedding at Shadelands Historical Ranch and Museum was amazing. The venue itself is gorgeous, with incredible colors from the emerald lawn and giant trees to the explosion of roses around the gazebo! Our wedding was in May and all the flowers were in bloom, it was like a page from a storybook with hummingbirds and butterflies out and about enjoying the day too. Our guests kept raving about how beautiful and picturesque it was.

Christine and Jackie made it a very stress-free experience. We had a morning wedding with a group of about 80 guests, along with a buffet table, mobile barista, DJ and sound system, and plenty of room for our three photographers to easily maneuver to get their shots. (Will update later with some professional photos when those arrive!) The venue provides chairs and various sizes of tables all arranged to your liking, we requested that the lawn seating be set up for the ceremony and for the tables to be set up around the edge of the patio area and they had everything set up exactly how we envisioned, so all we had to do was come in and decorate. Event insurance is required, along with multiple contacts on hand. Contract and rates are very straightforward. While the magnificent trees cover a large portion of the grassy area, would recommend bringing your own canopies with weights if you plan to set up tables within the paved area. Overall a grand experience with the venue and welcoming staff.”

“This is a great co working space! I like coming in here mid morning for an espresso and then settling into my work, very chill and very relaxing environment. Staff is competent and friendly. The decor and phone booths are creative and provides a unique vibe. Thanks to the owners creating such a gem for Alameda.”

“Lots of different themed toy sections for kids to play. Not a huge space but enough to play in each themed section. Workers were nice and they regularly made the rounds to put toys back into their themed section so toys won't be missing for it (ie doctor toys for the doctor office area)Great add to the Castro Valley community”

“This venue was perfect for what we wanted! We wanted a small wedding of 50 guests and I was looking for a place with some scenery and not just a boring hall that needed a lot to look beautiful. We were on a small budget so we also needed something at a reasonable price. This place hit all that and more. All of our guests loved the venue and it helped that it was a beautiful sunny day. The garden area made for a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony and great for photos. The lake was beautiful with all the ducks swimming around. I loved everything about this venue and definitely recommend it if you are having a small wedding.”

I followed the sound of the live DJ and was pleased to find it was coming from a place I get food from a bit regularly.Chef Alreca's food is delicious! “Came Here Looking For "Padrón Gril" A Vegan Spot I Saw On TikTok. Turns Out It Was A Vendor Working With Korner Kitchen At The Time. However, Korner Kitchen Is Legit! Menu Is Small But The Options Seem Delicious! To Order Food You Walk Up To The Bar Straight In The Middle Of The Patio & You Get A Chance To Look At Their Menu Or Whatever Vendor They Are Working With At The Moment. I Spoke With Who Im Thinking Is The Owner. Didn't Get His Name But Guy Was Very Friendly, Professional & If You Need Any Food Recommendations From The Menus He Got You! He Recommended I Get Their "Noodle Belly $20. Not Too Expensive As Long As The Flavors There. Comes With Garlic Noodles Your Choice Of Protein & A Vegetable. I Ordered The Broccolini With Shrimp! Belive Me Flavors Were Definitely There! The Patio Has Three Large Screen TVs So You Can Eat And Wacth Whatever Is Happening At The Time. Today They Had The UFC Fight And Summer Slam! Nice. Would I Come Here Again. Sure, But With Friends! The Vibes Are Nice Here & Service Is On Point!”

“I had my wedding here at Fairview Metropolitan and it was the MOST AMAZING DAY EVER! For starters Angela Muse helped us from start to finish on planning our day and every little detail in between! She was amazing to work with, she was clear, communicative, friendly and organized which is everything you want when you are planning your wedding! When I arrived at my reception I was blown away by the decor and how beautiful every detail was! Thank you so much Angela for all of your hard work and support in making my dream reception!!!

The vendors that are connected to Fairview that I opted into having was DJ Keel and Ting at Montclair Florist. DJ Keel was a phenomenal MC and met with us ahead of time to get an idea of how we wanted our wedding MC'd as well as what we wanted our music to be like and let me tell you he achieved it!!! My guests were laughing, entertained and raving about the music all night! Thank you Dj Keel!

I coordinated with Ting from Montclair Florist and although we did not talk much I have to say my bouquet and center pieces were the most beautiful flower arrangements I have ever seen! The flowers were stunning and she ran with the ideas I had and made it the most beautiful arrangement ever!!

My guests were raving about the food and we were so supported by KeeKee our Banquet Manager! She checked in on us and made sure we were good throughout our reception!

“For those who like the iconic Queen Anne Hotel in SF, well Berkeley has its own in the Berkeley City Club. Opened in 1930, the club has 35 rooms on three floors but also is a fully functioning club. The ambience and service were excellent and the bar area lively in the evening. No business center but plenty of areas to work or relax and read. Great location. Highly recommended. Ask your event coordinator to be sure as it's still dependent on each event to adopt this offering.----------Decent venue structurally: sound is good and floors are nice. Yet for a community space in OAKLAND the prices aren't very reflective of the capitalized oppression of those less privileged in the surrounding neighborhood. I have asked multiple times about sliding scales, or pricing options for those less monetarily advantaged. There has been no response or apparent consideration of these marginalized people who need community and a space much more than anyone who currently "supports" the space with fiat currency. ?I hope this may spark a review of the monetary practices employed and culminate in more choices to allow everyone the opportunity to participate.”

“We recently had my son's 5th birthday party here and had a wonderful experience. The staff take care of everything, which I wasn't expecting! And that included laying out table covers, having paper plates and napkins, checking guests in, receiving and bagging up gifts, distributing food, cleaning up. They were great with the kids and were so efficient in getting them from one place to the next! I received so many praises from the kids and from parents, many of whom said they didn't realize how amazing the relocated gym was. I highly recommend having a kids party here!”
