“Palo Alto Plaza Apartments was for us, during the past few years a home, not just an apartment. The location is very convenient, prices are very reasonable, the apartment layout is very comfortable and the internal patio is outstanding. It is an oasis, to keep you calm. Lastly and most important is the people that manage and do maintenance every day. They are just like family, they care, look out for you and always solve situations with respect and appreciation.Thank you all! Gracias!!”

“Robert and Rojelio are the best! I feel we have the best maintenance team around! When there is an issue, they respond so quickly! The netting in my sliding door came off as my daughter ran into it. I saw them outside and they promptly took out the door and fixed it, no questions asked! They are the best!!!!!”

“4.5/5. If you're tired of all those "luxury" units that offer lots of stuff no one needs and you just want a reasonable place, you'll want to consider this one.Let's start with the bad. The property is old, which means you'll get the usual issues, including the type of noise that is detrimental to cardiac health. If you're considering a lower unit, try to get a feel of how much movement you'll have upstairs before renting. Telltale signs of too much movement usually, but not always, include lots of stuff on the deck and presence of doorbell cameras. There are units that feel like tyrannosauruses live upstairs. When they walk, you can see ripples on water glasses standing on your kitchen counter. It's striking, yet not surprising given the structure. Some people and pets are nocturnal, so the movement could easily start at 11pm and end at 2am. Even in units with light footed upstairs tenants, you'll get the same noises from the hallways, albeit less intense. People let doors slam shut, with a force that shakes doors across the hallway. Another potential noise issue comes from wall-mounted TVs. The wall becomes a passive amplifier of the speakers, and it can feel super loud in adjacent units. Lastly: be careful with elevators and trash containers. Elevators are noisy and the trash is loudly dragged out in the early morning hours. If you get a low noise unit, you'll be fine. The very good: Management. They're super helpful. Although short-staffed, they get the job done and are easy to work with. Note: don't waste your time trying to get through the phone robots, you won't ever reach anyone at the leasing office, just pay them a visit in person. Same goes for applying: go physically. Take a look at the actual apartments. You will have to do application stuff online, but make sure you visit first.More about the units: The renovated ones are good, make sure to take a look at those. Some of the heaters are weak, be prepared with supplemental heating like space heaters. The air conditioners are OK, powerful for their size. I just wish they were reversible heat pumps. The parking situation is good, though not assigned so you might need to spend time looking for your preferred spots. AT&T fiber internet is great, though be advised: it will take a tech visit and about 4 hours to get set up, even in pre-wired units. You have to go through the bulk account and pay the corporate Avalon middlemen, but at least you get more speed for the price. If you go with Xfinity, you can set the equipment up yourself, and the network at the property gets good signal, so you'll have a stable connection.I hate that PG&E is paid through Conservice, they're horrible, but they're everywhere and inescapable. Electric meter numbers don't match, you'll wonder if you're being scammed. Units have no water meters, and the water heaters are common gas fired boilers (btw: they still depend on electricity, so hot water goes out when there are power outages) it's pretty much all divided "equally". So feel free to use all the water you want. The pipes are old galvanized, so don't be alarmed by nasty colors just after opening faucets. BTW, there's a review here saying you'll want to look for a new shower head from Amazon. Don't do that. Tell maintenance about any issue, and they'll help you. I was unsatisfied with my shower head's pressure, and they replaced it in no time and it's perfect. The culprit of blocked shower heads is probably the galvanized piping.I've no complaints about amenities. There's occasionally minor issues: An elevator somewhere is down. A laundry room needs to be closed for a while. The system to reload the laundry card breaks. PG&E has a power outage for a few hours. Key fobs stop working. I've seen these kinds of issues happen everywhere, and personally haven't been affected by any of these, so my review is very positive. It might seem like I'm negative. I”

“I’ve lived here for about 3 months and I am very happy with the place overall. The training will be a little bit noisy but the location with the farmers market right across the street on Sundays and being in the midst of downtown Mountain View as well as the amenities are top notch. The staff are also extremely diligent, and careful. For example, they did a very good job of cleaning the leaves out of the pool shortly after they had fallen in.”

“I had a great time living at The Shadows for 2 years. Friendly staff, maintenance is quick, clean lawn, common areas and gym, an apartment with working appliances. Very convenient location, extremely close to 101 and the Google office buildings in Mountain View.”

“Ray and Omar are super helpful and quick to respond to any maintenance requests! When I first moved in, Ray fixed my blinds and bathroom fixtures within a few minutes. It was the most efficient repair I have seen. Today, both Ray and Omar helped me find a solution for my patio to make sure my puppy doesn't escape. They really went above and beyond and we really appreciate it! Thank you Ray and Omar!!!”

“What a turnaround. Once the new management team got their bearings (and they had a lot to overcome) they have really made this place a standout in the area. I'm glad I stayed and gave them the chance to turn things around. Happy to remain here.”

I genuinely have no complaints about this apartment. The service provided by the staff has consistently been excellent, with fast and warm responses to any inquiries or issues that may have occurred. Not to mention the great amenities and a fantastic clubhouse, which make calling this place home even more delightful. This apartment is located in a great location near to two parks, Mountain view library, down town, which makes it great for an evening walk. It is an amazing place to have fun without spending time for commute. Additionally, the convenience of having a Starbucks nearby is a delightful bonus. At the end I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their support and for creating such a welcoming and comfortable environment.”

The neighborhood is really nice, location is super convenient, and there is enough guest parking.Management is personable & friendly. Maintenance staff always completed work orders in a timely manner! They trim the trees and plants regularly. The overall living experience is pretty good. While we are sad to move into our newly bought home, we’re happy to have lived in such an amazing community!”

“Pros:- Ramiro is professional and honest. He responds to problems with the apartment quickly, and explains things thoroughly and simply. His office is onsite Mon-Fri. Apparently he’s also a DJ.- Within easy walking distance of CVS and many grocery stores and neighborhood parks. The nearest laundromat is a very short drive.- Has a pool. I have never seen anyone use it.- The facilities are well maintained, owing to Ramiro's attentiveness.- They are pretty honest. I accidentally overpaid one of my last months’ rent, but they refunded me.- Located near many company workplaces.Cons:- Walls are very thin. You can hear much of what the neighbors say or do, and I assume they may hear you too.- Part of the sidewalk on Rich Ave is broken by the lawn and garden, inconveniencing walkers.- When driving you cannot take a left turn on El Camino Real to enter Rich Ave. So you have to go to the intersection and make a U-turn, which is annoying. To leave Rich Ave, you can only turn right. It’s a minor inconvenience.”

“The apartments here are a good spot to live in and the office workers Nancy and Merrari are very kind, helpful, and listen to all the problems of residents. The maintenance worker David and Maria the cleaner are both very well at their jobs and helpful. I am lucky to be here and have this team of people working around me.”

“This review is for the amazing service I received from Tony Ortiz ! This morning I found our water in our toilet has stopped working.I went immediately to the front desk and he happened to be there. Tony with his positive personality helped me right away with no hesitation, replaced the broken part within 5 minutes and voila the toilet was good as new. Later on my wife found out the bulb in our refrigerator no longer was working, it turned out the circuit breaker needed to be restarted, again he came in, opened the circuit box and got that working in no time -- what a service! Kudos to Tony, he deserves a raise!!”
