“I've been to this tasting bar twice and even though it is expensive ($66.00 for a bottle of olive oil) I don't mind paying for quality. What really bothers me is the scam. They have a card with 15 stars and when all are punched, you get a "free" bottle of olive oil worth $17.00. So basically they are overcharging by $!.13 per star which is refunded when all the stars are punched. It takes most people several months to reach fifteen stars and the tourists who don't come back are stuck with the overcharge. So, the owner is keeping the overcharge or receiving an interest free loan. Of course, the owner doesn't pay $17.00 for the bottle, so he/she is making out like a bandit. The answer is to charge a fair price in the beginning.”

“We were on our way home after spending the day at Calaveras Big Tree State Park. My wife is vegan and had been craving a sandwich when she mentioned she noticed Sierra Hills Natural Foods as we drove by it. I said maybe they have a sandwich counter so I made a U-turn. The store is small but packed with lots for good things. They didn't have a sandwich counter but we left with some items my wife had been keeping an eye out for and hadn't been able to find in Sacramento. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures at the store so I included one of Big Tree State Park.”

“I love our local grocery + variety store, Columbia Mercantile 1855 operated by Theresa. This is more than just a “touristy snack spot”. I am regularly in for my favorite meat and cheeses, last minute dinner ingredients for curry, and it feels like almost daily for the fresh baked sourdough loaf (or croissant). If there’s anything I'm looking for and can’t find, she’s been willing to order it for me. I also appreciate that she tries to source local when possible. She has a nice selection of beer and local wine, otc medicines, veggie starts, and gardening gloves to go with. She’s not only friendly and inviting, but knowledgeable of both her business’ origins and the town. I always look forward to going in and chatting. The Columbia Mercantile 1855 is a staple to the town and truly a piece of gold worth stopping in to discover.”

“I have been going to angels food market for 40+ years. I would go with my parents and now I go to the store every time I’m in the Angels Camp area.
Mike (owner) is such a great guy and runs a great store.”

“Been going here for many, many years. Always kind, but just as with anyone else, they will give you the same attitude you bring in with you. Prices, yes, they are high at times. A little convenience store in a little town has many competitors. Do you not like the price? Go to Walmart and spend the extra gas money on top of the price of your Oreos and cheap booze. Thanks for existing, R&L.”

“Why is there always only one cashier? Want one quick item before work? Nope 10 minute wait because apparently its a grocery store with 1 guy at the front. However the staff are good and funny maybe hire more people.”
