Fortunately, Gold Country Groomers has walk-in-and-get-your-nails-clipped Fridays. We've been twice, and I couldn't be happier. My beast's nails grow a half inch a month, so Gold Country Groomers is on my calendar for every other week.
Update January 23, 2026. I'm still a big fan. Having driven across the country and back taking my dog to groomers along the way, I'm even more impressed with Gold Country Goomers. The contrast was striking. Glad to be home!

21 Searls Ave, Nevada CityAfter coming home to a house filled with blood splatter I assumed the worst and thought one of my 6 animals was a goner. I searched the house to find my tiny baby girl Gizmo with blood all over her and a wounded tail. I grabbed her and flew down the hill into town. I called my now old vet and they couldn't fit me in (it was 3pm) but said if I paid $140 I could be seen as an emergency plus any other fees associated with the visit. I was bawling and couldn't understand why the fee was so expensive. I hung up and went straight to Four Paws. They took my sweet baby straight away and helped her immediately. I was frantic and a complete mess, everyone including Jessica was so comforting and eased my fears! I went to the this vet office because I knew Dr.Lester and had complete trust she could save my cat. I don't know why I ever went to any other office and thinking back I should have been bringing all my animals here. From now on I will only go to Dr Lester! We may have to amputate her tail but she had an alternative with a special dose of medicine to help Gizmos pain for a month! We are going to be monitoring her and going back in three weeks for a follow up. I am a trusted and loved pet sitter in the community, and not only will Dr Lester be the only vet I recommend, she will be forever in my thoughts and prayers. I absolutely love this place, don't even try the other offices in town. They way overcharge and won't be as helpful in an emergency as Four Paws! All the staff there were amazing, and we will tell the whole world about our awesome experience there!

The Canine Coach
20065 Scotts Flat Rd, Nevada CityWe adopted our one-year-old rescue lab, Duncan, about two years ago. He was very friendly, strong and very “active”. We decided to get some professional help and interviewed several trainers in the area. Susanna quickly rose to the top based on her attitude, personality and credentials.
We started with a few private lessons then transitioned to her group classes. Susanna’s classes are well planned, safe, and appropriate for all types of dog personalities. Duncan quickly progressed through her AKC Good Citizen basic and advanced classes and loves to demonstrate his new skills.
Duncan enjoys his weekly day at their “Dog Day Camp” and comes home very happy and tired! He also has enjoyed his stays when he has been boarded with The Canine Coach and again comes home a happy camper.
Recently Duncan went through a background check, observation and testing regimen with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) and is now a credentialed Therapy Dog. He will soon be visiting medical facilities, schools, first responder facilities and the court house. This honor is due largely to Duncan’s ongoing relationship with The Canine Coach.
While there are a number of canine services in the area, you won’t do better than The Canine Coach.

321 Spring St, Nevada CityMy friends and I came in and caught the end of a very lovely acoustic performance, which was so lovely. But the shining star of our night was be tended by Katey at the bar. She had the most excellent, and considerate presence. Her tenacity through a busy night was strong and delightful. She was gracious to let us enjoy our new favorite wine even though she was closing soon. We will surely be back again to see her!
