Fortunately, Gold Country Groomers has walk-in-and-get-your-nails-clipped Fridays. We've been twice, and I couldn't be happier. My beast's nails grow a half inch a month, so Gold Country Groomers is on my calendar for every other week.
Update January 23, 2026. I'm still a big fan. Having driven across the country and back taking my dog to groomers along the way, I'm even more impressed with Gold Country Goomers. The contrast was striking. Glad to be home!

For me it was, unfortunately, bad news, but i learned what I was dealing with and my baby got another 38 days. I will now only take my fur babies here, regardless of the cost.

Sorry to tell you that I lost my wonderful Joon last August to cancer. I was heartbroken beyond belief - she had always been so healthy. After grieving uncontrollably I knew that I needed another fur baby to help me get past the horrific sadness. I found Maggie at the local shelter, a 1 year old Oriental, and she has been the solution. She is completely different from Joon in looks and disposition but she has matured and is calming down. There will never be another cat like Joon, so gentle and sweet and beautiful, but I wanted you to know that I appreciated your excellent care when I lived there. Everyone in the office was just wonderful.

The Canine Coach
20065 Scotts Flat Rd, Nevada CityWe adopted our one-year-old rescue lab, Duncan, about two years ago. He was very friendly, strong and very “active”. We decided to get some professional help and interviewed several trainers in the area. Susanna quickly rose to the top based on her attitude, personality and credentials.
We started with a few private lessons then transitioned to her group classes. Susanna’s classes are well planned, safe, and appropriate for all types of dog personalities. Duncan quickly progressed through her AKC Good Citizen basic and advanced classes and loves to demonstrate his new skills.
Duncan enjoys his weekly day at their “Dog Day Camp” and comes home very happy and tired! He also has enjoyed his stays when he has been boarded with The Canine Coach and again comes home a happy camper.
Recently Duncan went through a background check, observation and testing regimen with the national Alliance of Therapy Dogs (ATD) and is now a credentialed Therapy Dog. He will soon be visiting medical facilities, schools, first responder facilities and the court house. This honor is due largely to Duncan’s ongoing relationship with The Canine Coach.
While there are a number of canine services in the area, you won’t do better than The Canine Coach.

Nevada City Winery
321 Spring Street, Nevada CityWhile traveling through California from Phoenix, our friends took us to Nevada City, where we stopped in to enjoy a wine tasting flight. This winery proudly advertises itself as the oldest operating winery in Nevada City, with wines crafted onsite using grapes sourced from local private vineyards. They also host a variety of events throughout the week, which are worth exploring.
The tasting room is inviting and thoughtfully designed, offering multiple seating areas where guests can relax and enjoy their wine. There is also a charming outdoor patio that adds to the overall experience.
As for the wine, I was pleasantly surprised. While I don’t typically favor red wines, I found their selection to be well-balanced and enjoyable, changing my expectations in the best way. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive, making the experience even more enjoyable.
I would highly recommend this winery to anyone looking to unwind, socialize with friends, or simply enjoy a quality wine tasting in a welcoming setting

The cafe has kind of a cute Indie Vibe, usually with Americana, Indie folk, alternative, singer-songwriter or bluegrass music playing in the background. I always have sweet mornings in this cafe. The prices are also slightly cheaper than the other cafes around. Love it! 🥰

Onto the main event: I don't claim to be an expert on wings, but I'm certainly an enthusiast. I ordered the buffalo variety tonight, and I think they're far and away the best in the county. Perfectly sauced, with just the right amount of heat, and the chicken itself was cooked to perfection. Juicy, not dry at all. Pair that with their amazing dill-forward ranch, plus a Spirit Guide pilsner, and I was in heaven.
I do want to say, and this is not a complaint/just a personal preference about merch, that I would love to sport one of your corduroy caps...if it was any color other than white. Again just my own preference, but I'd get a white hat dirty way too quickly.
