“I went there in 6th grade in 1979 and again today. Good memories and good people. My friend Will is an amazing swimming instructor there and you should definitely take his class.”
“After struggling with addiction for a decade, I finally found solid long term sobriety at Chandler Lodge. This place is the real deal. A great place to re-build your life with the security and fellowship I needed to succeed. They have a meeting hall on the property with numerous meetings every day, lots of 'old-timers' to learn from, and ample free food included in the reasonable rent. I especially liked the 24/7 management on property that gave me a sense of security and well-being. I highly recommend this sober living if you're serious about recovery and changing your life for the good. They also have great resources for jobs, help with legal issues, and the managers all have solid recovery.
Great place to live!”

“Great service, you can tell the girls in the office come here because they love their job and not just a paycheck !
They helped my mom and myself to become citizens and helped to bring my brother, sister and nephew from El Salvador!
I recommend them to people everything I get a chance!

“I have been with ETTA for almost 8 years. I have been 3 other programs like ETTA. I would say there is no comparison. They are always coming up with new programs so that there clients have place for growth. Since I have been there they have added over 4 new programs. I started off in the day program and am now working a full time job and supporting my self. I have only about 8 hours of service a week. If you are looking a job or place for some with special needs, look no further. This is the best place to be involved with.”
“We had just moved and thought what a better way to rid of out belongings and take them to the American Cancer Society. The woman who met us at the dropoff in the back was really, really nice. We just gave them two backpacks full of necessities and clothes. I hope what we donated really helps someone in need.”
“If you’re like me, and many other California’s your garden yields an abundance of food, more than you and your neighbors can consume. I’m so excited to share our abundance with others in my local community through FOOD FORWARD!”
“Great place I really appreciate everything they have done for me so far I'm waiting to get into a shelter preferably a tiny home or a room key project but I will appreciate anything that I'm helped out with waiting patiently is key to all those out there don't lose hope.”
“Apparently things at Carriage Hope have changed dramatically for the better since the time of earlier reviews. Having had pretty bad experiences at local Salvation Armies and Goodwills, I decided to stop here to drop off a boatload of donations accumulated over the past year or two. The lady at the front desk was super nice, briefly peeked into some of my bags to determine whether she could use the items in the store, accepted everything, and helped me carry it all in. Then I walked through the store, which was extraordinarily well organized; it was easy to walk down the aisles and find things. Everything was neat and tidy (some other ladies were cleaning and dusting items) with no musty or (worse) cheap detergent smell. I even found some 100% cotton flannel PJ bottoms, which have become my go-to item to look for in thrift shops. Items are not individually priced with stickers or tags, but there's a price list posted next to the front door and they recommend taking a photo of it to consult while shopping. All-in-all, great experience.”
“I would like to take the time to express my heartfelt appreciation and gratitude that I received from Hope The Mission. Approximately 30 days ago I was totally crestfallen, because I had a major financial setback that had me on the verge of becoming homeless. Nonetheless, I reached out to Hope The Mission on Tyrone/Victory Blvd. located in San Fernando Valley, and they provided the hope that I needed. With that being said, Mrs. Kay, Mrs. Kimberly and Mrs. Liz advocated to assist me with my rental expenses. I've always said, it takes a Village to assist with a crisis, and they were that Village that came to my rescue. Notwithstanding, thank you Mrs. Kay for being a conduit that lead to Mrs. Kimberly P. and Mrs. Liz V., because without their tenacious spirit and incessant drive, I would not have been approved for assistance. You all were a raw, uncut and polished Gem that exuded and illustrated a ray of hope and light that will forever shine. Again, thanks a million times over for all of you guy's support. Respectfully, P.T.”
“Not all Goodwill stores will take all types of donations so I really like this donation center. I like that I don't have to explain everything that's in every bag and that they will know how to process all different kinds of donations.”
“Since 2017, I have adopted and long-term fostered several senior cats from Perry's Place, a total of 5 fur babies (pictured).
The staff and volunteers at Perry's Place are wonderful! They go out of their way to help you find the right cat to adopt and solutions for foster cats with any medical issues.
I started volunteering during COVID and continue to do so twice a week. It is my happy place.
If you've never been, check out Perry's Place/Heaven on Earth on Thursdays through Sundays. The free roam rooms allow you to interact and get to know the cats more.
Shouts out to Joss, Eric, Leslie, Michelle, Channing, Leandra, Emma, Dr. P. & Mario; you are doing so much for so many cats who would never have had this chance for a better life, whether at Perry's Place sanctuary or in their forever home.”
