“They have what seems to be the broadest local network, best discounts, most dependable website (lookup answer DIY) and easiest referral and approval for my local medical groups/specialists (except for prescription pre-authorization - which, frankly, is fraught for problems with all). The special, extra programs around wellness, etc. have been pretty good (which I found through the website). When it comes to healthcare insurance and healthcare providers in the US - all I've been with have had their hiccups, sometimes major disappointments and frustrations - unfortunately.”

“I see a lot of misunderstanding in these reviews. Alameda Alliance is just an administrator for government-funded healthcare. They have nothing to do with scheduling medical appointments or anything else related to the quality of care given by your provider. They're in charge of managing which benefits you have and what will/won't be paid for, and that is based on gov't funding and regulations. They've actually been very helpful to me and have helped me understand how to maximize what I'm getting from my benefits.

A lot of the frustrations people express have to do with our broken system of health care in this country. Government-funded health care can't pay providers as much as private, so most health care providers won't accept it, which means there are fewer providers to choose from, which makes it more difficult to get appointments and can result in a lower quality of care. But that can't really be blamed on Alameda Alliance.

My only complaint has to do with dental coverage, but AA doesn't manage that; Medi-Cal Dental does. Medi-Cal Dental coverage for crowns is terrible.”
