“Coming out of Butte Lake, my back tire started losing air fast. I was able to slow the leak with some sealant and a portable inflator, but with about 70 miles to the nearest town and another night of camping ahead of us and a long way from home, we needed to get it fixed. Tread Tech was the closest shop we could find, so we called and then drove over. They said they could take a look, though it might be about an hour, so my wife and I settled into the comfortable lounge, which had good coffee, a thoughtfully put together veterans memorial display, and two bars of 5G, so I pulled out my laptop and figured I would get a little work done. Before long, they were looking at the tire. They were not really set up to lift a Rivian, but instead of turning us away, they figured out a workaround, checked the tire in a barrel of water, found that it actually was not leaking, and eventually traced the problem to the valve stem. They replaced it, reinflated the tire, and got us back on the road.
When I went to pay, the owner said there was no charge because they “didn’t do any work.” I would disagree with that. They diagnosed the problem and then solved it, and treated us professionally and courteously when we were a little stressed and far from home. I would have been happy to pay the $35 they quoted. Instead, they simply helped us out. I am very grateful we stopped there, and even more grateful that there are still places like this.”
