“Per Dr's orders I had to go on a soft foods diet. I called Meals on Wheels to cancel the following week's deliveries. They were very accommodating and understood my situation and honored my request.”
“Great DIY bike shop to learn how to fix your bike, saves you a lot of money and you learn useful skills. Dan and the crew are always on good spirits to help out.
I’ve bled my brakes and changed my pads a few times there.”
“A friend asked me if I wouldn't mind posting this for him. So I said sure....Here it is:Due to recent storm damage and a lengthy unforeseen power outage situation. I lost most of my food. I was embarrassed and somewhat resistant to seek any assistance because I've always managed to take care of myself. My friend brought me with her to SLO Food Bank. I didn't have to explain or justify my situation to anybody nor did I feel belittled or patronized while I was there. I was given some staples of food and additional helpful information. SLO Food Bank was such a blessing! Everybody there wore welcoming smiles and were terrific, helpful human beings.★ I am forever humbled and grateful because of your caring hearts and genuine desire to help lift up so many in your/our community experiencing all kinds of low moments in their lives. This is a rare but very real example in which no words I have could effectively represent what my heart is feeling...Yet before I sign off here. It is imperative that I at least extend a simple and heartfelt "THANK YOU" to everyone at SLO Food Bank! You are all Angels!Anonymous ~”
“A Truly Special Day at Rancho de los Animales.
Spending the day at Rancho de los Animales with my wife and 7-year-old daughter was one of those rare, meaningful experiences that stays with you. Tucked away in a peaceful setting, this working farm is so much more than just a place to meet animals—it's a place built on heart, resilience, and purpose.
The founder, Beth, is a force of nature. She shared her story with us—how she was diagnosed with polio as a child and later turned her experience into something extraordinary: creating a space where kids of all abilities, including those with disabilities, could experience the joy and healing that comes from being around horses. Her warmth, strength, and commitment to giving back are deeply inspiring.
Our daughter spent the entire day immersed in the life of the farm—riding horses, feeding pigs, cuddling bunnies, brushing goats, and gently holding guinea pigs. She was glowing with joy and curiosity, and it was clear how much thought and care went into every part of the experience. The animals are clearly well loved, and the atmosphere is one of calm, kindness, and connection.
Rancho de los Animales isn’t just a farm—it’s a labor of love that’s creating something truly beautiful in the world. We left feeling incredibly moved by Beth’s story and grateful for the memories we made as a family. Most importantly, our daughter came away not just entertained, but inspired. She talked about Beth for the rest of the weekend—and I think she’ll carry this day with her for a long time.
If you’re looking for an experience that blends nature, purpose, and a whole lot of heart, this is it.”

“The achievement house thrift store Is very nice, well stalked for the most part, they could use more variations of product. The staff are all very nice to work with and helpful. I'd go back again on my next visit to see what they may have found. My wife and myself enjoyed our visit.”
“I , unfortunately, wasn't visiting that quaint lil' town for pleasure but the atmosphere of the whole area was enjoyable and having an early dinner at Sylvester's Burger joint was definitely the "cherry on top" of the whole day. Delicious!!”

“Good afternoon AllMy name is Patti and I volunteer for The Salvation Army. Have since April 2020. There is a review written about me that is false. Please be cautious of this person. I have contacted the authorities about her and they are aware of her condition. I had to block her from social media, as well as block her calls. I kept screen shots of her threats. Not sure why she is targeting me, but here we are. I will continue to help anyone who needs help. Thank you.I wish her better mental health ?”
“I worked here for approximately 4 hours as a fry cook. As a proud man of Scottish descent, I’m happy to say I could wear my kilt while making fries. Truly a moment to remember.”

“Reuse, Recycle, and ReStore!
This store has everything you might need for your home renovation projects—everything from furniture, appliances, and light fixtures to old/new doors and windows. They have a large selection of paint, electrical, and plumbing supplies.
We went looking for a tall and wide interior door to use as a barn door for our remodel project. We found several and were able to get the perfect brand-new tall door for only $29 (see photo).
The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
Super happy and highly recommend for such a great service.”
“This is the most forward thinking Chamber I have ever been involved with. Highly recommended for any business in the SLO are. They are great advocates for not only businesses, but for the community at large as well.”
“I have been a Big Sister for 4.5 years now and it is the BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. No experience necessary! * You just have to have a good heart (a background check) and want to spend time with a great kid who needs some attention and guidance. The rewards can be enormous. In my case, my Little Sister and I bake, go to the movies, make birthday cakes for her family members, do art and craft projects, go out for lunch, explore places neither of us have been, take my dog to the beach and go out for frozen yogurt. I did not have kids of my own, and when I was ready for grandkids Big Brothers and Big Sisters was a great opportunity. My Little Sister couldn't crack an egg when we first got together, and now she teaches her friends how to make cookies from scratch. Cooking with someone is a great way to bond. I love having the opportunity to teach so many of the skills I have to a bright and loving young lady. I expect we will always be friends. Our match was perfect, and she brings great joy to my life! *Honestly, I have no experience being a big sister, I was the youngest kid in my family.”
“Terrific Staff!
Very warm & pleasant, organized, helpful, informative & easy going group of people. It is obvious right from the get go. That these individuals really enjoy what they do. You can recognize immediately on each of their faces that they are doing something which they truly find rewarding. It is also obvious that this group of individuals operate together like a well oiled happy team! A super thing for me to experience 1st hand!
On the "Siskel & Ebert" scale. I definitely give them "2 Thumbs Up"!!!!!

“In 2003 I moved into sunny acres where I got my first taste of soberity. This July 9th I'll have 18 years of soberity I own Dan Duvall a debt of gratitude for having the foresight to build a low income sober living home and for the strength and fortitude to stand up against city hall over and over again putting people's soberity health and wellbeing above everything else. Keep the fight going against city hall!”
“Great chamber and orchestral music, presented in exciting performances by wonderful soloists and ensembles, The programming has unfortunately become unfocused in recent years. For example, there have been more "popular" genres that are not of interest to me, so I no longer buy season tickets. There are some interesting venues that are (too) far-flung for me. Scott Yoo and the staff have done a fantastic job, presenting exciting performances of classical music from the 17th-21 centuries in the many diverse styles of that era. There is a lot of emotionally rich, rhythmical and colorful, in 20th-21st. classical music. Scott Yoo and colleagues are bringing it.”
“Very welcoming, family feel bar and dining hall. You need a sponsor/ current member to become a member. Very family oriented with lunches or dinners cooked periodically by members for reasonable prices! Great drink prices too. The organization is a charity for youth!”
