“Dear Food Bank...for years I have heard of you and even contributed at times. You know the $1 Donation Day and the stands out in front of grocery stores, but I never thought the day would come when I would need you. Well today was the day and you were there for me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.BenitaSmith”

“Good afternoon AllMy name is Patti and I volunteer for The Salvation Army. Have since April 2020. There is a review written about me that is false. Please be cautious of this person. I have contacted the authorities about her and they are aware of her condition. I had to block her from social media, as well as block her calls. I kept screen shots of her threats. Not sure why she is targeting me, but here we are. I will continue to help anyone who needs help. Thank you.I wish her better mental health ?”

“This man does wonderful work for the community. He gets vehicles donated and then fixes them up and sells them for our local vets so they can receive therapy animals. Not many people know about Mission Cars but I recommend stopping by if you're in the market for a vehicle. He is very honest, and always has a nice selection of cars/trucks.”

“I worked here for approximately 4 hours as a fry cook. As a proud man of Scottish descent, I’m happy to say I could wear my kilt while making fries. Truly a moment to remember.”

“So worth the drive out near the Cuesta campus to check this place out! There are a couple different buildings and areas to check out. Plants, thrift store and furniture store, plus a little sitting area perfect for picnics or just relaxing. The plants are well taken care of and are a decent price too. Many succulents among other plants. There are pots and garden décor both inside and in the little plant shack. The thrift store is packed full of dishes, books, sporting equipment, knickknacks, shoes, purses, clothing, toys and much much more. The prices are reasonable, yet not the lowest prices for used stuff. But it goes to a great cause. Nothing is too overpriced though, that's for sure. I've picked up quite a few items over my many visits; hats, small purse, vases. The furniture store is absolutely amazing! The prices in here cannot be beat and the quality of the items they sell is pretty darn good, depending on the time of the season. I imagine that students flow in to grab the good stuff at certain times each year yet other times there are some pretty decent donations! I mean, you want a dresser for $10-15, you'll find it! Couches, chairs, entertainment consoles, tables, cabinets, so much stuff! I like to make my way over there as often as I can when I visit, you just never know what kind of treasures and bargains you will find! I can honestly say that I've never left empty handed! Thank you!! CHEERS!”

“Was thankful to find a place where I could donate large furniture items as well as other household items that could be picked up. Ryan was helpful and accommodating to my schedule. Explained after receiving email with photos of items what could be accepted and what was not allowed. Came on day and time as scheduled. Worked efficiently and quickly. Hope my parent's greatly loved and gently used items are being appreciated in another home.”

“Great chamber and orchestral music, presented in exciting performances by wonderful soloists and ensembles, The programming has unfortunately become unfocused in recent years. For example, there have been more "popular" genres that are not of interest to me, so I no longer buy season tickets. There are some interesting venues that are (too) far-flung for me. Scott Yoo and the staff have done a fantastic job, presenting exciting performances of classical music from the 17th-21 centuries in the many diverse styles of that era. There is a lot of emotionally rich, rhythmical and colorful, in 20th-21st. classical music. Scott Yoo and colleagues are bringing it.”

“I have been a Big Sister for 4.5 years now and it is the BEST THING I HAVE EVER DONE. No experience necessary! * You just have to have a good heart (a background check) and want to spend time with a great kid who needs some attention and guidance. The rewards can be enormous. In my case, my Little Sister and I bake, go to the movies, make birthday cakes for her family members, do art and craft projects, go out for lunch, explore places neither of us have been, take my dog to the beach and go out for frozen yogurt. I did not have kids of my own, and when I was ready for grandkids Big Brothers and Big Sisters was a great opportunity. My Little Sister couldn't crack an egg when we first got together, and now she teaches her friends how to make cookies from scratch. Cooking with someone is a great way to bond. I love having the opportunity to teach so many of the skills I have to a bright and loving young lady. I expect we will always be friends. Our match was perfect, and she brings great joy to my life! *Honestly, I have no experience being a big sister, I was the youngest kid in my family.”

“In 2003 I moved into sunny acres where I got my first taste of soberity. This July 9th I'll have 18 years of soberity I own Dan Duvall a debt of gratitude for having the foresight to build a low income sober living home and for the strength and fortitude to stand up against city hall over and over again putting people's soberity health and wellbeing above everything else. Keep the fight going against city hall!”
