“Lyngso is 100% the best of the best. I’ve been around the construction and landscaping business off and on my whole life and I have never come across a place as special this.
Everyone who works here is endlessly knowledgeable and gracious to their customers. Their range of products and materials is 2nd to none.
Their fertilizers they carry are the best of their type on the market and the gardening tools they sell are really special. It’s also one of the very few landscaping supply places, including nurseries, that not only hasn’t been bought out by private equity, when the owner was ready to retire, they sold it to their employees.
My only complaint (and I tell them this all the time) is that they don’t have a location in the South Bay, where our landscaping business is headquartered. This makes deliveries down to the South Bay very expensive.
Most of our clients are happy to pay the higher delivery cost for the products that no one else has, but I’m sad that the extra delivery cost isn’t worth it for stuff they happen to sell (but still necessary, like drain rock) that I can buy from a more local place.
In other words, we would just prefer to give them all our money!!”
“My wife and I were married at the San Mateo Arboretum in June of 2019, it just occurred to me I should post a review! We were very happy with the venue, we had the wedding out in the garden with about 52 people. We used the Pump House to stage things, and had the buffet tables outside. We were able to bring in a catering truck with a pizza oven, and the caterer provided the servers to stage the food and serve the drinks. Our contact helped us with the logistics and was there for the event, when there was an issue with another event in the park blocking the access she quickly worked it out with them and got the path cleared. There are some limitations to work with: no real kitchen for cooking, no dishwashing, and the interior would be cramped for 45 people, so hope for clear weather and bring a mobile caterer. Don't expect to play really loud music or have a big dance party on the grass. But for a small low-key wedding the garden is fantastic, and makes a wonderful backdrop. The price is very affordable, and we were able to book it with 4 months notice, so it was a very good option for us... Highly recommended if it fits your needs!”

A young guy was watering the plants, and after hearing what I was looking for, he was super nice and let me search for roly-polies under the pots. I quickly found more than enough. Later, I also met the owner, and she was super friendly too.

“- Virtual event: Rosewood Medicinal Native Garden, a talk by Radhika Thekkath - This talk will feature an in-depth visit to the Rosewood Medicinal Native Garden, one of the gardens on the 2021 Going Native Garden Tour. Come on a tour to a suburban garden stocked with native plants valued for their medicinal value. The Rosewood Palo Alto garden is about 12 years old, converted from non-native grass to native plant areas. The garden features a pond with waterfall and bathing area for birds and wildlife, a native pollinator meadow, edible fruits, and a compost area. The tour will be followed by a question and answer session with the garden owner. This talk is part of the 2021 Going Native Garden Tour, which started in April, and is providing virtual tours throughout the year. Radhika Thekkath is a retired computer scientist who has been gardening with native plants and has been an active member of our Chapter for over ten years. She recently returned to California after a three year stay in Washington state. However this particular visit required extensive planning, design revising, and attention to detail ordering several custom windows. Soé in the window department went above and beyond spending several hours with us making sure everything was correct and even postponing his lunch & break to accommodate. It’s hard to find service like this nowadays and because of this I’ll come back just for him.”
