“It's near by my house and they have almost everything which I love because the other stores near by me don't usually have what I am looking for. The only thing I don't like is the smell.”

“Phenomenal selection of legitimately 5 star quality fresh produce, freshly baked local bread, artisanal coffee, quality wines, and more. Every square foot of this market is thoughtfully stocked with quality products. Parking lot and the area of Hopkins st are a little busy, so you're best of biking if possible, but always worth the visit.”

“I loved this place under the previous management, but Barbara and Christine have elevated this place beyond just a grocery store.

To be sure, it's a solid grocery store with all the essentials (bread, dairy, pantry staples) and some interesting specialty items. But they're also just so friendly: when they ran out of my favorite cereal or cheese, they remembered me when it came in. They're expanding their produce selection too and often have very local, in-season fruits. While it's sometimes more expensive than the big stores, the prices are often comparable, and I think for the convenience and quality it is well worth it.

On top of that, the expansion of Casa do Petisco and the addition of new events like samba night make this a neighborhood hub too! I'm looking forward to attending more things.”

“Hey Since you don’t have a phone number or contact info. I am just texting here to let you know that I am running late to pick the special order of beef ribs. Should be there in 30mins. Sorry for the delay”

“Incredibly nice people work here - very good prices on necessities like phone chargers, Aloe vera juice, Pretzels… Deli looks impressive, but I’ve never ordered meat from there!”

“My go to farmers market even though there are others closer to me. The strawberries are the best!! And there are specialty food vendors also, local granola, filipino food, seafood, hummus, tamales, honey, eggs, kettle korn, fresh bread, stuffed donuts, and some other rotating vendors in addition to the fresh fruits and veggies. There’s a bank right on the corner if you need to get cash. You can have brunch nearby at Pear St Bistro, Sues Cafe, Tina’s Place. Or even get dim sum across the street at King Valley. Parking can sometimes be difficult due to all that may be going on, especially if there are church events at the same time.”

“Fabulous independent, family-owned supermarket in Berkeley. It's huge, with a wider selection of organic and natural products than Whole Foods. It has a large produce section, lots of fresh & prepared foods, and some unique finds. They also offer a lot of local, vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free items. I came in for a few things and filled a whole cart of things I wanted to try. 😆”

“Best little corner store we could have asked for! They have everything you need when you’re in a pinch and forgot something when you’re cooking. I have popped over for flour, bouillon paste, and onion, or fresh herbs. I find their prices very reasonable. They also have an excellent selection of pastas and Italian cookies. We personally love their frozen pizza selection. So happy this store exists up the street from us!”

“Lovely produce! Always try to stop here because the carrots, celery, kale, garlic, onions and lots else are head and shoulders above the rest! Parking is tough though and I live up and over Union (really big hill!) but we make the trek.”

“Really fast unloading, just take 20 min. They don’t have dock, just unload on road, front of store, friendly staff. As per receiver they start unloading at 4pm, If you come early, they will unload you.”

“Outstanding selection for such a small place. Reminds me of a NYC Bodega in terms of variety and quality of products offered. I go far and wide for fresh fruits and vegetables and I'm always very impressed with this little spot. Seem to always have jackfruit for sale. The woman who works here is very kind and helpful.”

“We love the North Berkeley Farmers' Market — it’s such a great mix of local produce and community vibes. It’s especially nice having a weekday market just a short stroll from home. Perfect for picking up fresh, seasonal goods mid-week and connecting with neighbors. A true neighborhood gem!”

“This is the best place for seasonal fresh produce! Everything is reasonably prices, and they have the best of whatever is in season at the time. Additionally, the staff there is really helpful. Once, I got two boxes of food, and an employee helped me carry an entire box down the block. I could not recommend this place more! If you are looking for fresh produce, come to Aloha first.”

“Great experience here!
Unassuming store, but once you're inside there is a large selection of various items. From unique Haribo gummies, produce, drinks, and a frozen section.
A little pricier, but to be expected of Russian Hill *sigh*...
The staff in the front is also amazing, a positive light and always smiling; very nice to see that in a world of gloom :(”

“There are many choices in Chinatown to shop for Asian vegetables, dry goods, condiments, meat and seafood, bakeries items, Chinese deli foods, and more. But where do you go to shop? Having grown up near Chinatown and shopping there with my parents over the years, I've become familiar as to which stores to shop for specific items as these were their go-to's.Located at the corner of Jackson and Stockton, you can't miss Vegiland. It's gone through several ownerships so the name has changed over the years. There's display bins of vegies by the entrance with bins on the Jackson St. side of the store. This is where I get my gai laan / Chinese broccoli and Yau choy as they are in bundles or packed in bags if you get the mue or the tender stalks of the veggies. The two aisles inside are on the narrow side and to pay, the waiting line is on right side of the store and there are usually two cashiers. The line usually goes quickly. They do have a small selection of condiments and frozen seafood. But for Asian veggies, it's my go-to for freshness and quality.”

“Great local market and deli! This is the perfect place to pick up those last minute items right when you're cooking dinner. Great selection of high quality items, the staff and owner are also all very friendly and helpful. Their deli makes a delicious assortment of sandwiches, I have had two so far and definitely plan on going back for more! If you live in the area this is the place to go!”
