“I've been gifted several of these lovely soy candles so I was excited when I spotted their storefront in San Francisco. I especially like their candles that come in a tin and they were on sale when I visited so I happily picked up a new one. I chose Dusk which they describe as: 8pm. Damp leaves, crisp air, powder and spice on a clear night. Woody, cool, and earthy. Black pepper, clary sage, palo santo, and blooming iris. I can't wait to smell this scent wafting through my home.If you're looking for a gift I highly recommend one of their 10 ounce soy candles from the Sunset collection paired with a pretty book of matches.”

“Terrific items and wonderful service. The owner has now helped me twice and has always been very very helpful. I was unaware though of a fee on my credit card until i got home on the first occasion and my wife pointed this out. I don't understand why this should be....i don't think i have ever encountered this in my life without a sign telling you about this OR being offered the choice of cash or credit ahead of time . This should be corrected immediately or just done away with. Its kind of tacky in an exquisite shop with beautiful merchandise. I will not stop shopping there because of this because its so great to have this paragon of a gift shop close by us.”

“They have a LOT of gift options, and you can order completely online for delivery or pick up. I did pick up, and they call you when it's ready. You go up to the door and ask the person sitting there for your order, and then you are done! This is a typical gift store, ie cute stuff, but none the less STUFF. They are unique and do have useful gifts, but just wanted to warn y'all that would rather give useful things and not just cutesy "idk what to get you" gifts.”

“Wasn't sure what to make of this shop when I first moved into the neighborhood, but two years later I don't know what I'd do without it! They have a very well-curated selection of cards, way better than you'd find in a drug store or supermarket. They also have a constantly rotating collection of random giftable items that have helped me out in a pinch on several occasions. Prices might be a bit higher than some other places, but good taste doesn't come cheap!”

“what an absolutely AMAZING store! i could have spent hours looking through all of the baskets, shelves and walls full of the most unique, coolest and cutest trinkets. i intially only went in to look, i wasn't planning on buying anything, but when i laid eyes on the pufferfish with GOOGLY EYES i couldn't pass it up. unfortunately, my husband and i are traveling from boston so it would have been extremely difficult to bring it home without breaking its spines. fortunately, the shop offers shipping! laila was able to help us fill out the form and within a couple days let me know the cost of shipping and had it sent out. sthe shell cellar was truly one of my most favorite shops i've visited my entire trip thus far!”

“The fam has been wanting to learn mahjong for the longest time, but we really didn't know what to look for in terms of the kind of set to get, the look and feel of the tiles, etc. So we checked this place out on one of our Chinatown errands. For a souveniry gift shop in a very touristy area, the lady who helped us was surprisingly very helpful, explained the style and price differences among all the different sets, and made a few recommendations. We were so happy with our purchase and had so much fun with it that my folks wanted us to buy them a set of their own. So of course we came back here and bought a set for my parents, and they were happy with it too.”

“I walk by this shop all the time and decided it was time to visit. The shopkeeper is a charming and helpful person. He let me go for an olfactory journey, which was such a treat. With COVID and all, I miss smelling things in shops, but this worked out since the shop is so small. I stood in the doorway and he let me sniff almost everything on the shelf and was happy to do it. He also talked about the shea butters and other kinds of butter and showed me his luminous, glistening hands to demonstrate the efficacy of shea butter. There were CDs of all sorts of African and island music, garments in bright colors, various toiletries and teas and so on. There was a lot packed into that tiny store. I did get some red African musk fragrance and it takes me back to my hippie days where I'd hang out with friends who wore fragrances and used incense. I think I will go back and try some shea butter soaps in the future.”
