“This shop is jammed-packed with the most interesting assortment of gifts and homewares, from plants to kitchen items to clothing and meditation paraphernalia. Really useful things, not just pretty stuff to look (though they have that too). I also just scored on their 25th Anniversary Sale, where everything in the store was 20% off (9/21-10/6/2023). What a find on Piedmont Ave.”

“Great store with many authentic beautiful gift items from Mexico. If you like religious candles, photos, statues, and rosaries there are many items with Jesus, The Blessed Virgin Mary, and Saint Michael to name a few. I will add some photos later of all the religious items that you don't find many places. Very friendly people who are so helpful to find just the right clothing, gift, pinata, etc, etc. See the store for yourself and something beautiful and colorful will catch your eyes everywhere you look!”

“Wasn't sure what to make of this shop when I first moved into the neighborhood, but two years later I don't know what I'd do without it! They have a very well-curated selection of cards, way better than you'd find in a drug store or supermarket. They also have a constantly rotating collection of random giftable items that have helped me out in a pinch on several occasions. Prices might be a bit higher than some other places, but good taste doesn't come cheap!”

“A local gift shop that highlights local artists while still taking active steps to protect people from COVID through masking policy. I make it a ritual to get birthday, thank you, and holiday cards here that feel unique as well as art to frame that I know my friends will love. Are the price points higher than average? maybe - but i appreciate paying people a livable wage for their work. Also as someone who masks strategically in public settings I'm VERY appreciative of the masks and store policy regarding masking. It's a small space and I don't want to be breathing in your breath. While I've been here many times only recently I was able to meet the shop cat. Come for the local art - stay to befriend the shop cat.”

“This place is a hidden Jewel. Located in the East Bay. It is a Wonderland of artifacts and supplies for all things Latino. The owners are wonderful and kind people who are very knowledgeable in regards to all the items they carry. Bilingual.It's the perfect place to stock up on items. You would like to have around the house to decorate for various Mexican holidays! Great selection.”

They have gifts of all kinds; gifts for the cooks, cocktail drinkers, game fanatics, adventurers/nature lovers, and spiritual/horoscope gifts! Be aware, everything is very high quality, so prepare to spend a pretty penny when checking out. The staff is always so warm and friendly and they offer gift wrapping! Truly love this shop, I could spend hours here just hunting for the perfect gift.”

“Terrific items and wonderful service. The owner has now helped me twice and has always been very very helpful. I was unaware though of a fee on my credit card until i got home on the first occasion and my wife pointed this out. I don't understand why this should be....i don't think i have ever encountered this in my life without a sign telling you about this OR being offered the choice of cash or credit ahead of time . This should be corrected immediately or just done away with. Its kind of tacky in an exquisite shop with beautiful merchandise. I will not stop shopping there because of this because its so great to have this paragon of a gift shop close by us.”

“From Tara-Nicholle's review - "totally stuffed to the gills" may be the biggest selling point and biggest gripe I have with Maison d'Etre. It's nearly impossible to move around when there's more than a handful of people in this shop, but that inspires you to look at everything more closely and enjoy every detail and the curation by the owners. They do have lots of handmade items, minimal vintage, and anything you could want to gift your friends and loved ones, and more often than note a treat for yourself too!”

“They have a LOT of gift options, and you can order completely online for delivery or pick up. I did pick up, and they call you when it's ready. You go up to the door and ask the person sitting there for your order, and then you are done! This is a typical gift store, ie cute stuff, but none the less STUFF. They are unique and do have useful gifts, but just wanted to warn y'all that would rather give useful things and not just cutesy "idk what to get you" gifts.”
