“If you are a avid reader of books this is the place for you. Older books, CD's and some games are here that were donated by good people. The selection is vast. The great part is that the prices are beyond reasonable. Plus the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Parking is a bit tight but overall this place is a hidden gem.”

“This place feels like home. Way bigger than the last location. Record store also! They have a lot of great books other stores don't have, both new and used books. I have to renew my collection of classics because the copies they have available are so awesome looking, and for a good price! Staff is very helpful, friendly and pleasant to be around. This is my go to spot from now on. Thank you Beers 🍻 🐻 Books!”

“Really good place to get books on any subject. Has quite a few specialty books. Not as cheap as thrift stores, but a much wider and robust selection. Cheaper than Barnes &Noble. Worth checking out.”

“Special shout out to Underground Books, Manager Kamuri, and Assistant Manager Uriah for truly supporting our Autism Acceptance Month campaign and helping us increase awareness and support within the Black community 🤎

Together, we were able to host “Talking ‘Bout Autism,” an important community conversation centered around autism in the Black community, advocacy, resources, and support for families.

Spaces like Underground Books matter because they continue to open their doors for meaningful dialogue, education, culture, and connection. Thank you for believing in the work and helping our families feel seen and heard.

We appreciate y’all deeply ✨”

“Recommend going here first before anywhere else for books of all types. They even offered to order a book that I am interested in purchasing.
I needed several blank books. They had a great selection of various sizes and designs that would certainly appeal to everyone.
I love that the location is just a short walk from my home.
Please support and show love to this business. The owner is a brilliant genius artist.”

They have a great and interesting selection of new books not just the best sellers or run-of-the-mill stuff but interesting stuff that people who like to read would find interesting. I like the other things they sell there too like the cards and the notebooks and writing utensils. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and it's in a great location. All in all a very enjoyable experience.”

“Excellent and collector-quality books in a refined atmosphere. There are a variety of subject areas and price ranges, ranging from the inexpensive to true rarities. An excellent resource for any collectors looking for quality history of California materials, books about books, literature, Western Americana and other fine material. Barry is a very knowledgeable and friendly guy, makes you feel welcome and shares his love of books with everyone. I highly recommend a visit here.”

“the shop is small enough that you could pass by without a second glance but stepping inside you find narrow aisles lined with cases and boxes stacked high so that every turn feels like a discovery and though the space is tight it carries a warmth that makes you want to linger much like in the lord of the rings when bilbo discovered the quiet comforts of the shire before gandalf arrived with fireworks to celebrate his birthday and the fields filled with lanterns and laughter and food and drink while the hobbits gathered to share in the joy of the night until the moment when bilbo made his choice to slip away from it all leaving behind the songs and the bright lights and setting in motion a story that would carry far beyond the borders of his home.”

“Small gift shop but has some very nice items with Sacramento and California on them. Bring your shiny penny and two quarters if you like to have a penny souvenir. They range from shot glasses, mugs, cups, coasters, kitchen towels, stickers, jig saw puzzles, tree ornaments, playing cards, post cards, magnets etc. I recommend book marks! I surely would have purchased that in addition to the other souvenirs I bought. Pam was very nice in helping me on the phone to locate them.”

“This is the place to be every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. There are tons of vendors selling their goods for fair prices. Food, jewelry, clothing, art, literature and seminars. There also a lot of permanent black owned businesses open 7 days a week at the market place. Anything from legal services, church, clothing stores, counseling, self help work shops, music production and much more.”

“It has everything you need and then some. This place can get pricey so be prepared to pay $35 for a t-shirt. You'll find good deals like the .50 cent coffee. The staff is always nice so that's a plus.”

“The staff are always courteous and kind. The snacks and drinks are at comparable prices. I use the bookstore frequently, and I've always been treated nice. Are books sometimes out? Yes because instructors only order so many copies, not the bookstore employees. If you have orders, check your email as they do let you know timely when books arrive. The bookstore could extend their hours so online students have the ability to pick up their books after work, but that is not the individual employee's fault.”

“Very cool school with a variety of classes. FYI may have plays by the students every couple of months. They're really entertaining and the students are really talented.
Also, the cafeteria is open.”
