“The coolest shop in North Beach run by the best people who built an amazing inventory of the most diverse, fun, and unique gifts - art, clothing, jewelry, home goods, all the things! Everything is so thoughtfully sourced with so much from independent artists + designers, making visiting a special experience. Support them and you support artists who work hard to be active, positive members of the community speaking up for what's right.”
“They have a wide range of scents and price points. Great customer service. Very relaxed but also organized. My house and the houses of my family members are now filled with their products - can't wait for the body fragrance products to come out!!!”
“All the taxidermy and bones freaked me out a little bit but lots of great merchandise and helpful staff. Great if you're into to this sort of niche interest.”
“Alicia is the heart and soul of her amazing store, Land of the Sun. It’s one of the few original businesses from the peace and love Haight Ashbury scene of the 60s and 70s. I love all the merchandise she offers, especially my mushroom bell bottoms, Alice in Wonderland vintage t-shirt, the Grateful Dead t-shirts, stickers and patches. Every time my husband and I visit San Francisco, we make a homage to the Haight, and we definitely make a stop into Alicia’s wonderland to soak in the positive vibes and creativity that she radiates. It’s an integral part of our SF experience. Please support Alicia and her business! With all the online competition it’s harder to compete, but the online competition doesn’t offer the magic and love that Land of the Sun does. We love you, Alicia, and wish you all the best! ???❤️?”
“Loads of product to explore. It’s a great spot to shop for gifts for yourself and others. Reminds me of items I’d find when visiting my family in Mexico. Did my Christmas shopping here this year and my loved ones were so happy with their gifts.”
“Great store!! I have never seen a store with so many varied and beautiful shells!!! If you are passing through PIER 39 in San Francisco, you have to go there!! Plus the employee this evening was super friendly and gave lots of information and explanations.”
“What a cute gift store! That was my go-to anytime I needed to buy a gift card or a SF-related gift. The SF theme objects are not those poor quality ones that you find at the typical touristy gift shop, they made with quality I good taste. If you’re looking for a SF souvenir, that’s to place to go to! (Or the one on haight street)”
“If you haven't stopped into Jessica's shop on Union Street, do yourself a favor and do it soon. It's not just a great spot for beautiful and unique gifts, but the know-customers-by-name small town vibe is just fantastic.”
“It was great to see items from the shows in the store and own a memory. We were able to find some unique gifts for friends and families. The staff is knowledgeable, patient and efficient.”

“Amazing gift shop for traditional Chinese souvenirs and clothes! We went around Chinatown looking for a tiny Chinese coin purse and came across many places where the quality and price were not worth it. However at this shop, the prices were extremely affordable and quality was better than anything we have seen.We really liked looking through all the Chinese decor, clothing and souvenirs. The store owner was very friendly and welcoming. We came in looking for a $1 coin purse and left with $100 worth of merchandise. Extremely satisfied!”
“If someone has no self-control, this is a place where you could easily drop your dollars. I, for one, wanted to browse every corner and get something from every section (be it cards, pens, notebooks/journals, pins, accessories, etc). I ended up leaving with just a sticker, but I loved how quirky, unique their items are. You can literally find anything you can imagine in regards to small gift ideas. I would definitely come back if I'm back in the area!”
“Got 2 basket planters here for $22 each that was perfect for my large plants. They did not have a large selection of plastic grow pots or drainage trays (minus 1 star), but nice pots and very kind attendant. Also had a good selection of basket planters that were handwoven but a little out of budget for me.
Really cool store and had more designer planters than other shops in SF”
“Exactly the classic China Rain scent I have been looking everywhere for since Terranova stopped producing it. Shipped quickly and beautifully packaged. Now that I know the level of quality I will be buying many oils. Can't find this stuff in rural Colorado but as an Ojai, CA native I am so glad I came across this shop (in a reddit discussion)! Thank you! I ordered a couple sampler packs as well so will leave reviews on those when they get here! Can't wait! Only advice is to sell on etsy if you aren't already as I am sure others are looking for this particular China Rain or other Terranova discontinued scents. I ordered many others off there with great disappointment each time. So glad Life is in my life now!”
“Love Open Editions... As a local maker, they are one of the best companies to work with and support local makers within the community. Awesome Store with the best selection of artist designed goods anywhere in SF.”

“This store is filled with fun, fresh, local items. The inventory is inventive and such a breath of fresh air. And you can tell they care about their customers and their experience. I had a quality issue with an item I bought for my son and the owner was responsive and helped me get it replaced. Thank you!”
“Good selection of mahjong tiles, including multiple sizes, pattern colors and ones with Arabic numerals. I thought they would be expensive, marked-up for being in the center of a touristy area, but they were very reasonably priced. The staff were so nice and helpful. Will definitely return to buy more sets for friends!”
“I went to this store to get help with my shoe's sole falling out. The employee there made a great effort to help me by giving us tape and rubber bands to hold up my shoe before I can get a proper repair.”

“What a wonderful experience. I wandered into this store after a recommendation from a colleague. I was seeking a particular item, stationery for letters and envelopes. As soon as I entered, Danielle welcomed me with a smile and offered to help. She listened carefully and brought me a wide selection of products to choose from. Each package had a different theme with cards, stickers, and envelopes. I was so pleased with the price and cute factor of all the products. Danielle invited me to explore the store after I made my selection. There are so much fun gift ideas from coasters to bags to women's clothing. During checkout, Danielle explained the history of the store, shared other locations around the Bay Area, and promoted the fact that this store is Female and family owned. I look forward to coming back to explore and recommend you do too! Until next time.”
“Great service from the business owners. Best place to get any traditional Mexican artisan crafts. Anything from Mexican wrestlers masks to Día de los Muertos crafts, and many more items... Mixcoatl IS THE HEART OF THE MISSION!”
“I love this cute lil shop so I wanted to leave a nice review! The shop is tucked away so please don’t miss it :). The person that helped me was so sweet, they lit many incense and helped me find something for myself and a gift for a friend. Highly recommended!”

“This was our first time at this fun store. We were drawn in by the colors and openness of the layout. Jordan was funny and helpful in pointing out details in some of the merchandise. We bought two stress relief toys, but eyed so many items we want to get next time. Highly recommend checking it out!!”
“If you are in San Francisco’s Chinatown, I highly recommend visiting this jewelry shop for their incredible selection of jewelry and beads. The store is neat, clean and comfortable for shoppers. The owner, Lily, is exceptionally knowledgeable and provides personalized service, whether you are looking for a new piece or need professional help with restringing and repairs.
I purchased three items (1 Amber bracelet and 2 mala beads) during my last visit and was impressed by both the high quality and the very reasonable pricing. It has easily become one of my favorite stores in the area. Whether you are a collector or looking for a special gift, this shop is a must-visit!
I will come back again!”
“What a lovely store. My wife and I bought a one-of-a-kind pillow from a Mexican artist and we absolutely love it. The staff is super friendly and they have a wonderful variety of home decor.”
“This place has been so many things throughout time. In the 70's it was an apartment/art gallery, the 80's thru to 2000 it was various kinds of shops from the arcane to jewelry to herbs to magic to comics but it has always been the spot in my old neighborhood that has always been the go-to place to scope out some of the most interesting things that the Haight Ashbury has to offer. It was a complete blessing to pass by here and also go inside the last time I was in San Francisco.”
“This is aVery clean and a lot of nice souvenirs gift shop. I was looking for the gifts for my family and friends when I go to San Francisco, I found everything in this store. It was saving so much time.”
“Unfortunately, I don’t have pictures of the store to offer here, since I had already used them in my review of the museum.
Instead, you can see the wooden San Francisco skyline I purchased a year ago, which they are still selling to this day. It features the Salesforce Tower, Transamerica Pyramid, 181 Fremont, Golden Gate Bridge, Russ Building, Ferry Building, Coit Tower, City Hall, DeYoung Museum, and Legion of Honor Museum, and can be rearranged to your liking.
It was about $20-30 from what I can remember. It’s well crafted and I enjoyed the assembly process, but a lot of the pieces tend to come loose from the base. Nevertheless, it’s high quality, like most gifts from the museum store. I think there were about 3 or 4 sections of the deYoung that sold souvenirs. Some products are original, some are by artists, and some are general art-related trinkets. The only problem was that everything seemed overpriced, but that’s how museum prices are, right? Overall, 4/5.”
“This is at the San Francisco zoo Cafe in there. Finally covid it's winding down the zoo was pretty busy . But it was so nice after a year of being locked down to see families out and about. The lion and tiger cages aren't open the gorilla exhibit as well was down but they're working on new and bigger exhibits overall their landscaping there is beautiful I forgotten how beautiful it is. There's plenty of places to sit down all the water faucets are all closed up they follow all the sanitary rules there for this covid they have the giraffes and zebra and ostriches are all together in an exhibit at the zoo it's really nice they're out in the open? and they have a really awesome bird exhibit where you can walk in and watch the birds fly around it's great. When you have time go visit the San Francisco zoo.”
“Wonderful little shop selling authentically local gifts. This is not a place you’ll find cheap Chinese trinkets. Everything felt thoughtful and held some type of relation to the area. I thoroughly enjoyed spending a little time here and found some unique gifts for family that wouldn’t be found elsewhere. Regretfully I only took one photo inside, but it’s charming and the staff are exceptionally friendly.”
“The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They were attentive, but not hawk-ish. We had a pleasant experience browsing and purchasing from their inventory of trinkets and jewelry.”
“Post.script is the perfect spot when you're looking for a unique gift for a special friend or just browsing for something fun for yourself. Tucked away off of busy Fillmore Street, there is a wide range of offerings packed into this small spot. The selections are well-curated and can be both practical and wonderfully decorative at the same time. During a recent trip, I picked up several of the Baggu brand reusable bags, as they carry a good selection of these bags. I also found some lovely glassware and whimsical geometric coasters for the perfect birthday gift. The staff was also helpful and courteous, as they have been on all my trips there. Along with checking out the fun gift cards and writing instruments, one can spend a lot of time perusing the different and interesting selections of hair accessories, as well as attractive items for decorating the home. The variety of items and reasonable price points make post.script a spot not to be missed.”
