“Katsura garden is a small plant and pot shop in Japantown. The plant selection is limited due to the size of the store, but the selection is unique, plants you would not normally find in big retailers. They also have small to medium pots that are well priced. We picked up this plant and pot while there. Clear instructions on watering, sunlight exposure, and soil will be given when asked for help.”

“Came in just looking for a bit of soil to try and save a little succulent I found on the road — not sure if someone dropped it or tossed it, but I figured I’d try to give it a second chance. The guy at the counter couldn’t have been kinder. Super friendly, didn’t rush me, and even gave me a small pot and some soil for free. I ended up buying some plant food just to support the place, but honestly, I just really want more people to know about this spot. It has a really cozy vibe, and the kind of service you rarely see anymore. Definitely recommend stopping by.”

I called asking what orchids they had in stock, and they sent me pictures of what I was looking for, and when I arrived to make the purchase, offered to repot it as well. When I mentioned I will be taking it on the bus, he packaged everything up nice and secure for me. I am looking forward to visiting again when I am not in a rush.”

“10/4/2024: I'd been looking forward to visiting Succulence for months, ever since my plant collection exploded with a particular fondness for succulents. I happened to be in the Bernal Heights neighborhood, so decided to finally check them out. Unfortunately, when I arrived I discovered a karate school at the address listed for Succulence. A lady inside told me they had been closed since sometime in June. The owners have responded to other comments, stating that despite the closure of their brick and mortar store you can still contact them regarding workshops and other events. Closing a business is incredibly difficult, and I'm glad to hear they're still up and running (even if it's at a reduced capacity). To those leaving negative reviews because they arrived to find the store closed: stop. For you it's a minor inconvenience, but for the owners it's so much more. That said, it would be helpful if they added a banner on the website's homepage letting customers know the physical store closed. I wish them the best with their future ventures, and hope I get the opportunity to visit another Succulence location someday.”

“I love coming here for all my gardening needs, whether I’m looking for outdoor plants, seeds, fertilizer, or even something cute to gift someone. It can definitely be pricey, especially when it comes to their indoor plants, but I do think they carry really good-quality stuff. The service is also great, they’re usually always friendly, helpful, and happy to answer questions. I do wish they had a bigger selection of fruit trees, but maybe people just grab them before I get a chance to look, or the selection is limited because of our growing zone lol. I feel like most of their outdoor plants are pretty reasonably priced, but some of the extras, like planters and pots, can get expensive. Overall, it’s still one of my favorite places to browse for plants and gardening supplies, and I usually end up finding something I want every time I go.”
